CAD outsourcing
You don’t have a "bandwidth" problem. You have a delegation problem. Stop trying to be the Architect, the Drafter, and the Detailer. If you are an Architectural Design firm owner, doing your own CAD work, you are bottlenecking your own growth. Period. Here is the reality: The market pays you for your Taste and your Skills. The market does not pay you premium rates to draw lines in software. Every minute you spend on documentation is a minute you are robbing from: - Closing the next deal. - Fixing a client crisis. - Expanding your portfolio. I solve the friction between Concept and Construction. You sketch. I draft. It gets built. No errors. No "design doesn't work" phone calls. No headaches. You can keep grinding 14-hour days trying to save a few bucks on drafting. Or you can buy back your time and double your design output. If you want to scale, let's talk. Leave a comment below. DM me to start getting your time back.

The Year I Almost Went Bankrupt
Everyone thought I'd lost my mind. 2003. Barely any savings in the bank. And I'm about to quit my stable job to become a freelance drafter. My life at that moment: → Full-time job (steady paycheck) → Married with real responsibilities → 1 1/2 -year-old daughter counting on me → Pregnant wife (baby #2 coming soon) → Brand new house with mortgage payments What was I thinking?! But lying in bed at night, I kept imagining a different life. Freedom to choose my projects. Time to actually be present for my kids' milestones. Building something that belonged to me. The fear was real. The pull was stronger. So I jumped. Zero to six figures within a few years. But here's the part nobody warns you about: Being an incredible drafter means absolutely nothing if you can't run a business. I learned this the expensive way. Pricing mistakes. Client management disasters. Cash flow nightmares. Technical genius. Business amateur. It nearly broke me. 20+ years later, I'm building the Drafting Workshop community for one reason: So talented drafters don't have to stumble through the same business mistakes I made. You've already mastered the hardest part - the technical skills. Let me help you with everything else. P.S. The "crazy" decisions are usually the ones that change everything. What's your version of 2003? Join my community or DM me and we can talk about it.

Drafting: in house vs. outsourcing
I've made a career of being a freelance drafter that worked for many architects and interior designers, but it's been a few years since I have been doing, so not sure what the market is looking like now. I've talked to a few people in my community and on LinkedIn, and a common thing I'm hearing is that there are not many opportunities out there as an outsource CAD drafter. I'd like to figure out a way that I can help them, but not sure about the market. This is a great group of practicing architects here, so I thought I would pose the question to you, so I made a poll about it. If you are not using outsource CAD services, what is keeping you from doing so? Are you worried about losing control of you project? Drafting costs getting too high? Let me know what your concerns are so that I can help my members develop their responses to address them.

Architect + drafting team = wins
Every successful structure, from a residential masterpiece to a commercial complex, starts with an expertly drafted plan. While drafters are foundational to this process, they are often placed low in the industry's pecking order. Drafting Workshop is a professional community dedicated to correcting this imbalance. We invite all drafters, architects, and interior designers to join a dynamic network where the focus is on advancing your career. This is the place to collaborate on challenging projects, gain cross-industry insights, and ensure you're always getting ahead in your field. Invest in your professional future.
A foundation of a successful architect - the CAD team
This is a great community filled with architects and designers developing their firms and practices. One thing that all the architects and designers need and have is a solid foundation. Part of that foundation are CAD people doing their drawings. I’ve been working in this aspect for about 25 years, being the support to great architects and interior designers so they can spend their time designing and developing their business. At times it was a solitary existence, I had to figure things out as I went, making mistakes and learning. That’s why I created a community here on skool called Drafting Workshop. It’s small and trying to find its footing, but I’m hoping to build it into a place for drafters to meet, trade tips, and progress and grow their careers. It’s open to drafters, architects, interior designers, builders, or anyone that is involved in the AEC industry. If you are interested in joining, please follow the link
