How to Build Inner Strength When Life Knocks You Sideways
Ever felt like the universe hit pause just as your business was gaining momentum?
I’ve been there.
This isn’t just another “bounce back” story, it’s about rediscovering your footing when life throws you completely off balance.
Resilience isn’t about dodging the hard stuff. It’s about standing up again, a little wiser, a little tougher, and often more aligned with who you’re meant to be.
When Life Changes Everything
I remember the morning everything shifted.
A phone call from my daughter changed my world in an instant.
The news shook me to my core, it was devastating but in that moment, the direction of my life shifted completely. My desire to be back in the UK, close to my daughter, went through the roof.
My priorities became crystal clear: I needed to be home, near my family, near her. That was all I could think of.
So I made a decision that scared me.
👉 I packed up.
👉 I moved my life and my business back to the UK.
👉 I chose family first.
It wasn’t easy. It was emotional, exhausting, and uncertain. But with my family’s support, I got through it, and on the other side came something unexpected:
✨ I achieved my dream of being home.
✨ My business not only survived, but started to thrive.
✨ I found a renewed sense of purpose, helping women in business feel confident with technology instead of overwhelmed by it.
That’s what resilience does. It rebuilds you from the inside out.
Resilience Is a Skill, Not a Superpower
Let’s be clear: resilient people aren’t born that way. They build it, one small choice, one tough moment at a time.
For me, resilience looked like:
- Showing up even when my heart was heavy
- Taking one task at a time
- Talking to my family every day
- Saying “no” to things that no longer aligned
Resilience isn’t about being unshakable. It’s about learning to bend without breaking.

Clarity in the Chaos
When life shakes your foundation, it has a way of stripping away everything that doesn’t matter.
Before the move, I was chasing growth, momentum, and strategy. After, I realised I wanted connection, presence, and freedom. I wanted to feel proud, not just look successful.
Tough times have a strange gift: they burn away the noise and reveal what truly matters.
Ask yourself:
👉 Are you building a business that serves your life, or the other way around?
👉 What would you change if nothing was holding you back?
Clarity often comes in the chaos. It can be the start of something better, more aligned, more sustainable, and more you.
Build Your Inner Armour
Your inner strength isn’t forged in one big moment. It’s built through the daily habits that keep you grounded.
Here are some simple practices that helped me stay strong during the move and the rebuild:
- Start each day with intention, even five minutes of quiet makes a difference.
- Protect your energy with firm boundaries.
- Have a non-negotiable “off switch”, your downtime matters.
- Talk to someone. You don’t have to go through it alone.
- Take one small step forward, even when progress feels slow.

Remember: Self-care isn’t indulgence. It’s part of the strategy.
Lead Through Vulnerability
If you’re worried that sharing your struggles makes you look weak, it doesn’t. It makes you relatable.
When I started opening up about my move, the grief, and the challenges, something amazing happened.
Clients didn’t pull away, they connected.
People trusted me more, not less.

Your story is your strength.
Your honesty is your leadership.
And your resilience is your credibility.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
You can’t avoid the tough seasons, but you can grow through them.
Through grief and upheaval, I came home, rebuilt my business, and rediscovered my purpose: helping women who feel blocked by tech step into clarity, confidence, and control.
If you’re in the middle of your own storm, please know this:
Tough times don’t last. But resilient entrepreneurs, like you, absolutely do.
