I launched Calorie Deficit Tracker+ last Thursday. It turns out my onboarding and paywall worked pretty well. Apple boosted my app for 5 days.
The app was a MVP not super polished and had some bugs. When I noticed the conversions I started fixing everything and added a few items that I thought would increase retention like streak tracking. That was approved yesterday. However, it might have been too little too late because I lost the boost today.
My app is slightly different than the others because it tracks added sugar too, which I thought could be a differentiator. It turns out not too many people care about added sugar but there are some videos with over two million likes on TikTok showing how many sugar cubes are in different sodas with 77 grams of sugar and 19 sugar cubes in Mountain Dew.
I started Apple Search ads a few days ago and plan to make a few posts on Reddit etc. The next step I am considering is TikTok ads, not on Calorie Tracking at first but on look at what 77 grams of sugar looks like, can you believe this healthy protein bar has more sugar than a snickers bar, etc.
Would be interested in hearing other people’s thoughts.
