WELCOME TO ANKRD IN ⚓
I'm Erika, the founder of ANKRD IN, creator of Framed Verse, and owner of an AI consulting firm. Before this chapter, I had a very successful career in software sales. But behind that success, I was exhausted. For two years, God had been telling me to leave and fully run my own business. He had given me the tools and resources, but I was afraid to step out on faith and bet on myself. I stayed longer than I was supposed to, and I learned some things the hard way. After mistreatment and spiritual warfare across several companies, I was mentally drained. I was successful at work I no longer loved. I was rich in finances but bankrupt in spirit. Many people are in that place today. We've achieved things, fulfilled expectations, and built lives that look good, yet we know God is calling us higher. Many of us have made the pit stop the palace. We've settled into a place God intended us to pass through, and leaving it feels harder than staying. Then came an unexpected layoff, and I was crushed. Everything I had worked so hard for was beginning to slip away. When that door closed, I finally surrendered to God fully and completely. And it was difficult. He immediately led me into a season of isolation. Familiar voices were telling me I was making a mistake and needed to return to corporate. Hearing that from people I loved was painful, especially after everything I had experienced. God revealed that I had put more faith in my family's and friends' opinions than in His direction. He had to teach me to trust Him without needing everyone else to agree. I've come to understand how isolation can lead to elevation. In that quiet season, He began changing what I believed, what I valued, and whose voice I followed. Over these last two years, I've experienced immense spiritual warfare. I grew up in a conservative Baptist church where it wasn't really discussed. When my life turned upside down, I needed to understand what I was facing and the God I was trusting. Studying His Word changed my life.
Prayer: When the Teacher is Quiet
Spirit of the Living God, I lift up every person praying through a season they cannot explain. You know the questions they keep bringing before You, the decisions weighing on them, and the weariness of waiting for clarity. Father, strengthen them in the quiet. When they cannot trace Your hand, help them trust Your heart. Bring Your Word to their remembrance. Let what they have studied become what steadies them, and what they have learned become what they live. In the name of Jesus, I bind every attack of the enemy against their minds. Break the grip of confusion, torment, and the fear that they have been forgotten. Guard them from voices that exploit their uncertainty. Give them divine discernment to recognize Your guidance and courage to resist the pressure to force an answer. Where You have given instruction, help them follow through. Where they need to wait, sustain their patience. Connect them with people who will offer wisdom, prayer, and practical support. Father, provide what they need and reveal the strategy for their next step. Keep anxiety from rushing their decisions and disappointment from hardening their hearts. Restore their strength and give them peace before the circumstances change. Meet them when they open their Bibles, when they sit alone with their questions, and when all they can pray is, “Lord, help me.” Let them rest in the security of belonging to You. They do not have to earn Your care by appearing strong. You are present. You are faithful. You are sustaining them. Teach them to trust You when they cannot trace You, and give them grace to take today’s faithful step. In the mighty and undefeated name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Prayer: When the Teacher is Quiet
DAY 5: The Teacher is Quiet During the Test
Sometimes the hardest part of suffering is how quiet God seems while you are going through it. You are praying, but you do not have an answer. You are seeking Him, but the direction is not clear. You remember seasons when you felt so certain about what He was saying. Now you are trying to remain faithful while wondering why He feels so far away. “Lord, I know You can speak. Why does it feel like I cannot hear You?” Think about a classroom. During the lesson, the teacher explains the material, walks through examples, and answers questions. But when the test begins, the room gets quiet. The student has to draw on what was taught before the question was placed in front of them. The teacher has not left the room. That picture gives us something to consider about our walk with God. There are seasons when the truth we have been learning becomes the truth we must live by. What we underlined when life was peaceful becomes what we need to hold on to when life is painful. It is one thing to read about trusting God. It’s another thing to trust Him when you can’t trace Him. It is one thing to study forgiveness. It is another to practice it when the apology never comes. It is one thing to believe God cares for you. It is another to rest in that care when your prayer remains unanswered. What happens when the lesson becomes personal? The classroom picture has its limits. God does not stop speaking every time we face a test, and we cannot explain every quiet season by calling it one. But it raises an important question: Have I been waiting for God to repeat something He is asking me to begin practicing? Isaiah 50:10 speaks to people who honor the Lord and obey His servant, yet find themselves walking through darkness. It says: “If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God.” Isaiah 50:10, NLT, excerpt. Notice who is being addressed. People who fear God. People who are listening and obeying. Yet they are experiencing darkness.

DAY 5: The Teacher is Quiet During the Test
Prayer: Faith in the fire
Dear Heavenly Father, I lift up every person who is still facing the situation they have been praying would change. You know what it takes for them to get up, keep believing, and face another day with questions they cannot answer. Father, meet them in the fire. When the pressure increases, steady their hearts. When fear tells them You have abandoned them, remind them of Your presence. Give them strength to remain faithful without feeling they have to hide how much this hurts. In the name of Jesus, I bind every attack of the enemy against their minds. Break the grip of torment, despair, and confusion. Let the voice of fear lose its influence as Your truth takes root. Guard their sleep and give their weary minds rest. Father, where suffering has tightened the grip of fear, bring freedom. Where disappointment has made it difficult to pray, help them find the words again. Surround them with people who will pray, show up, and help carry the weight. Give them divine discernment, provision, and strategy for the days ahead. Show them the next step without overwhelming them with the whole journey. Help them recognize Your care even while they are waiting for relief. I pray for deliverance, healing, and restoration. And today, while the situation remains unresolved, sustain them. Give them enough strength for today and confidence that they can return to You tomorrow. The heat may be real, but so is Your presence. Let them know deep within their spirits that they are not facing this alone. In the mighty, undefeated name of Jesus, Amen.

Day 4: Faith in the furnace
How do you keep going when the situation isn’t changing? You have prayed. You have taken the steps you know to take. Yet you wake up to the same concern, the same uncertainty, or the same difficult reality. You believe God can bring you through. But you still have to live through today. We often celebrate the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, coming out of the fire unscathed. But Daniel 3 reveals something powerful about what happened before they came out. Before God brought them out, He met them in it. King Nebuchadnezzar had commanded everyone to bow before a gold statue. Refusing meant being thrown into a blazing furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not bow. When brought before the king, they declared their confidence that God could rescue them. Then they made clear that their worship would remain with Him even if He did not. They trusted God without claiming to know exactly how He would act. That is a deep place of faith. We can believe completely in God’s power while acknowledging that we do not know how a particular situation will unfold. Their confidence rested in the God they served. The king could threaten their lives, but he could not decide who deserved their worship. Then the situation got worse. Nebuchadnezzar became furious and ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual. He was determined to make their refusal cost them everything. But increasing the heat did not increase his authority over God. The furnace became so hot that the flames killed the soldiers who carried Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to its opening. The danger was real. Their faithfulness had not prevented them from entering it. And that is what makes the next moment so powerful. The king had ordered more heat. He had not accounted for another presence. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed!” Daniel 3:25, NLT, excerpt. Three went in bound. Four were seen walking freely. The king could intensify the fire. He could not keep God’s help out of it.
