This Week’s Challenge: The 3-Second Check-In Game
Want your dog to pay more attention to you on walks without constantly calling their name?
Try this:
➡️ On your next walk, every time your dog voluntarily looks at you, mark it with a cheerful “Yes!” (or click if you use a clicker) and give them a treat.
That’s it.
No commands, no asking for attention. Just reward the choice to check in with you.
‼️ Why it works:
Dogs repeat behaviors that pay off. When checking in becomes rewarding, your dog starts choosing to stay connected to you—even when there are distractions around.
Your challenge this week:
- Do this for 5 minutes per walk.
- Count how many check-ins happen naturally.
- Notice if the number increases by the end of the week.
