"I Wanna Know Your Name" is a retro-inspired funk single by Karma's Tea. Built around an infectious groove that began with a bass line and rhythm conceived by Mike Desroches, the song explores the excitement of meeting someone for the first time through themes of attraction, confidence, and empowerment in making the first move toward a genuine connection. The lyrics unfold naturally over the groove, allowing the rhythm, melody, and vocals to tell the story. Drawing inspiration from Prince, Chic, and Silk Sonic, the recording blends soulful vocals, live instrumentation, and a groove that feels both effortless and inviting. The song was produced and recorded in Karma's Tea's recording studio, where Mystina Sol improvised the vocal melody in a single pass before refining the lyrics and arrangement. To capture the right feel, musicians from around the world contributed performances as the arrangement evolved before the final recording was completed. The finished recording features bass by Alex "Spanador" Moseley of Cult Jam, whose performance completed the groove that became the foundation of the song. @Tiffany Gaines
