Assignment 3 — Why This Project Matters
"I Wanna Know Your Name" was created from a desire to write something simple, honest, and connected. We wanted to capture the excitement of an instant connection through a groove that felt natural, allowing the music and lyrics to unfold together without overcomplicating the moment. Much of the song developed organically, with the melody and many of the lyrics emerging through improvisation, reinforcing the spontaneous feeling at the heart of the recording. More than anything, we wanted to create a song that feels good, one that captures the excitement of meeting someone new and reminds listeners to trust the connections that feel genuine, wherever those connections may lead. If the song leaves someone smiling and remembering the excitement of a first connection, then it has done exactly what we hoped it would do.
