Spending time today with the kids on a field trip to an old mission out by Tubac, and going to places like this always gives me such perspective.
I think about all the struggles that just have come with day to day life, carrying water from the river in huge pots, worrying about famine or disease.
But what also hits me is how simple life was. No credit ratings, work schedules, traffic, mortgages or social media. All they had was each other and their faith. And there is something so special about that enclosed community that we will never understand.
It makes me so grateful for all the conveniences we have today and yet left yearning for a simpler life.
