Gabriel's doing something almost nobody here does
So I was poking around AIFD this morning and saw something that made me grin.
Gabriel Brien (who's pretty new here, by the way) has been quietly publishing blog posts on his profile.
And not just one.
Festival strategy for AI films. A history of filmmakers putting actors in places they never went. 10 prompting beliefs, tested. What California's new AI performer law actually requires. Plus a couple of news posts about his film Last One.
Nice work Gabriel. Seriously.
Now here's why I'm telling the rest of you about it...
Almost nobody does this. Which means whoever DOES do it stands out like crazy.
Think about it from the hiring side for a sec. A producer lands on your profile. They see your reel. Cool. Everybody's got a reel.
Then they see you wrote a breakdown of how you picked festivals for your film, or what actually happened when you tested a bunch of prompting "hacks."
Now they're not guessing whether you know your stuff. You just showed them.
Plus every post is another page Google and the AI search tools (ChatGPT, Perplexity, all those) can find. No posts = one way for people to find you. Ten posts = eleven ways.
That's it. That's the whole secret. It's not complicated.
BUT. One thing...
Don't dump them all at once.
I know, I know. You get excited, you write five posts over the weekend, you hit publish on all of them Sunday night. Feels productive.
Here's the problem. You share them, they all show up at the same time, and they basically fight each other for attention. Then your profile goes quiet for two months and looks like nobody's home.
Instead, do one a week. Maybe two if you're on a roll.
Each one gets its own moment when you share it on LinkedIn or here in the group. Your profile always looks active. And you don't burn yourself out (which, let's be honest, is what usually happens).
Already got a bunch written? Awesome. Just space 'em out.
Stuck on what to write? Steal one of these:
- How you made your last project (tools, workflow, the stuff that broke)
- A tool you tried and what you REALLY thought
- A mistake you made and what it taught you
- Your hot take on something happening in AI filmmaking right now
Quick heads up: blog posts are a Pro feature. So if you're on the free plan and this sounds like something you want to do (it should), now's a good time to upgrade.
And when you publish your first one, drop the link in the comments. I'll go read it. For real.
Thanks for leading the way Gabriel 🙌
