Big news. AIFD is now an Official Sponsor of CLOWD: The AI Film Festival. 🎬
Wanted you guys to be the first to know. CLOWD is a real AI film festival. First annual one. October 7-8, at The Alex Theatre in Glendale. Real venue, real industry judges — Hollywood people, tech people. Not a Zoom webinar wearing a festival costume. Submissions are closed already. But stick with me, this still matters for you. Here's the thing about festivals in general: they're one of the few places left where your work gets seen by people who actually make hiring and funding decisions. Not algorithm luck. Not a good week on social. Actual humans, judging actual work, in an actual room. If you're serious about this as a career, getting into festivals should be on your radar. Always. Now, what this sponsorship actually does for you: Everywhere CLOWD promotes itself between now and the event — their homepage, sponsor page, poster, on-screen at screenings, trailers, newsletter, socials — AIF Directory's name is sitting right there next to it. Their audience becomes our audience. Which means it becomes yours too, since you're in the Directory. And the live event itself matters here too. Glendale, for anyone who doesn't know, is basically LA. So this is pulling in an LA crowd — studios, brands, businesses actually looking to hire AI filmmakers. The kind of people who don't know the Directory exists yet. They show up, they see how easy it is to find and hire creators through AIFD, and now they're browsing your profile instead of posting a job listing into the void. And for the filmmakers who did submit and place: Winners get a full year of AIFD Pro. Free. Finalists get 50% off a year of Pro. If that's you, sit tight. We'll reach out once winners are announced. Everyone else — go watch. October 7-8, The Alex Theatre. See who wins, see what a real festival looks like, and start thinking about which one you're submitting to next. Because this won't be the last one. We're hoping CLOWD is the first of several festival partnerships, not the only one. More creators, more stages, more real recognition. That's the plan.

Quick heads up — we changed our name
So AIFCA used to stand for "AI Filmmakers Career Agents." Now it's "AI Film Career Accelerator." Same letters. Same community. Same me. Just swapped out one word. Here's why. "Agent" sounds like I'm representing you. Like I'm the guy who calls up a studio and gets you the gig. And for a minute, that WAS kind of the plan. But that's not actually what this is. This is a community that helps you build your own career — your own profile, your own reel, your own pipeline of work. I'm not standing between you and the people hiring you. You are. "Agent" said one thing. We do another thing. So the name needed to catch up to reality. "Accelerator" is just more honest. It's a place that helps your career move faster — not a person doing the moving for you. The URL is now https://www.skool.com/aifilmcareeraccelerator Feel freen to invite other AI video creators and people who orbit around the industry. Just wanted you to hear it from me first.

BIG one: the directory can now read plain English. Here's who that leaves behind.
Alright, I need to tell you guys something, and it's gonna sting a little. We just shipped natural language search on the directory. I've talked about it — employers can now literally type "AI filmmaker in Montreal who does music videos" and get real people back, instantly. No more digging through categories. Cool, right? Knock knock. Who's there? Not all of you. While I was testing it, I kept running searches. Music videos. UGC. Documentary. Real estate. And I kept noticing the same thing — some of you weren't showing up. Not because you're not good. Because your profile has no tags on it. Or three tags. Or a description that says basically nothing. This search doesn't read your portfolio and figure out what you do. It matches on what you actually filled in. If you didn't tell the directory what you specialize in, it can't tell an employer either. You're invisible to the exact search someone's about to run for the exact work you do. That's the part that's gonna sting more once employers actually start using this. Right now, this is the moment where the gap between "has a real presence" and "just signed up once" starts to actually cost people opportunities. Before, it didn't matter as much — people were scrolling categories anyway. Now they're typing exactly what they need and getting exactly who matches. So here's what I'd do if I were you, today, not next week: Go look at your profile like a stranger would. Are your niches filled in? Your tools? Does your description actually say what you do, or is it three sentences you wrote in a hurry six months ago? And if you've been sitting on the fence about going Pro — this is the reason. Pro members show up first in these results. When someone types exactly what you do, you want to be the first thing they see, not buried under a hundred free listings that also happen to match. This isn't a "someday" thing anymore. The search is live right now. People are typing real requests into it today. Go fix your profile. Then come tell me what you searched for and what showed up.
