Hey everyone!
I just launched an AI voice receptionist for a restaurant using VAPI + n8n that takes phone orders and automatically pushes them to their Clover POS. The client loves it but has two concerns:
Problem #1: Regulars & Older CustomersSome regulars and older generation customers prefer speaking to a real person.
My Solution: Running a 1-2 week test using VAPI's call transfer feature or DTMF function (press 0 for live person). Will monitor feedback and adjust.
Problem #2: UberEats/DoorDash Phone Verification (BIGGER ISSUE)When an order comes in, they must click "Accept" in the app. If they don't, Uber/DoorDash calls their line 3 times to notify them. If no one accepts after the 3rd call, the order gets auto-canceled.
Current Idea: Keep two separate phone lines (one for AI, one for delivery platforms) to avoid missing critical notifications. But this feels clunky.
My Question:Has anyone dealt with delivery platform phone verifications while running an AI receptionist? Looking for solutions that don't require dual lines or risk missing orders.
Any insights would be hugely appreciated! 🙏
