Something special
Here’s a small personal automation win I wanted to share with the n8n community.
A while ago, my girlfriend and I were talking about gifts: Christmas gifts, special ones... and she mentioned this perfume she had loved for years. It was released only once, back in 2017, then discontinued. Totally sold out everywhere.
This year, out of nowhere, the brand quietly added it back to their online store. Not for sale yet, just “coming soon.” She was so excited that she signed up for the newsletter to get notified.
But for me, that was a trigger moment: I thought, why wait for an email when I can automate this?
So I built a tiny n8n workflow that checks the store page every minute. It looks for when the “sold out” label disappears. If it’s gone → I get an instant alert.
And today, at exactly 4:00 PM, after 1 week of "waiting", I got the notification. I opened the site, and boom, it was live. I managed to buy it before it sold out again. When I checked a few hours later, it was already gone.
That moment reminded me why I love automation so much. It’s not just about _saving time_, it’s about catching opportunities in real life, when timing really matters.
Simple setup:
  • HTTP Request Node: fetch product page every minute
  • HTML/Regex Node: check for “sold out” or missing button
  • IF Node: available → send notification
  • Notification Node: ntfy.sh + community node
Lesson learned:
  • Don’t wait for newsletters.
  • Poll smart.
  • Small automations can make someone’s day.
What’s your most unexpected “real life” win with n8n?
