**Security heads-up: the "GSD" tool (Get Shit Done) for Claude Code**
Short version: a popular free add-on for Claude Code has been abandoned by its creator under bad circumstances. If you never installed it, you are fine and can stop reading. If you did, the simple steps are below.
What GSD is
GSD (“Get Shit Done”) was a free helper tool that plugged into Claude Code to help organize and run coding tasks. It got popular because it was genuinely useful.
What happened, in plain English
The person who built GSD also launched a crypto coin tied to the project. According to community reports and security write-ups, they cashed out the coin, took the money, and disappeared. This move has a name: a “rug pull.” They deleted their accounts and walked away from the tool.
Here is the part that matters. The tool itself is not known to contain anything harmful today. The problem is that the person who vanished still controls the official download.
Picture a handyman who gave you a handy free gadget, then skipped town with a pile of people’s money, but still has a copy of your house key. The gadget works fine right now. You just do not want to keep accepting “free upgrades” from someone who left like that and still has access.
Tools like this run with broad permissions on your computer, so a bad future update could do real damage. The safe move is to remove the old version now, before any such update can land.
