Mapping multiple workflows on same canvas

Hey I have a question: when mapping multiple workflows on the same canvas, how does N8N know what workflow to use by just a workflow id (which is just the id of the whole workspace). How does it know which 'on workflow trigger' to use to make the right tool fire.

I've looked everywhere online and no one is giving me a clear answer

Also to trigger the separate workflow I also found complicated as you cannot pass data as it's set to 'execute workflow trigger' only workaround I found to map the fields was looking in the execution tab. Which seemed overly complicated
