Everyone is obsessed with building AI automations. But few talk about keeping them secure.
This week I finished a project for a CEO:
→ Saved him 60+ hours a month
→ Boosted revenue by 12%
He loved it.
Then he hit me with the key question:
“Is my customer data safe?”
Most people don’t even think to ask. That’s why I want to share the 5 layers of security I use in every AI automation:
  1. Data mapping - Before building, I map out every data flow: what comes in, where it goes, where it’s stored.
  2. Access control - No open API keys. Permissions are always minimal and intentional.
  3. Encryption - Every transfer and database is encrypted in-transit and at-rest.
  4. Audit trails - Logs for every action. You should always be able to trace “who touched what.”
  5. Fail-safes - Manual overrides so if AI breaks, the business keeps running.
This framework has saved clients from both downtime and lawsuits.
Remember: AI should accelerate your business, not expose it.
Security isn’t a “bonus” - it’s the foundation.
Who else here is building AI automations? Do you already have a security checklist, or are you just trusting the platforms?
