Automating Project Acquisition – Has Anyone Built Something Like This?
I’m thinking about building an automation system that consistently finds new client projects. Not just scraping Upwork (I’m not a big fan of Upwork anyway), but searching across multiple platforms, identifying matching opportunities, and generating tailored outreach messages automatically.
The idea would be something like this:
1. A RAG system gets fed everything about you or your company — your CV, website, services, strengths, case studies, problems you solve, etc.
2. The AI generates search keywords based on your profile.
3. Browser automation scrapes project listings across different platforms (even ones without an API).
4. Each project gets a relevance score based on how well it matches your profile.
5. For high-match projects, the AI drafts personalized messages or proposals.
Basically: a co-pilot for freelancers, agencies, or productized service providers who constantly need fresh leads.
Before I start building this, I’m curious:
Has anyone here built something similar or seen it in the wild?
And what are your thoughts
on this general approach?
