Here’s the lowdown on how I built my automated email workflow:
- Gmail Trigger: Kicks things off with a Gmail trigger in n8n. This node constantly monitors my inbox for new emails. Connect your Gmail account here, of course!
- Smart Polling: To avoid unnecessary costs 💸, set up a Cron expression to check for new emails every 5-10 minutes. This way, n8n isn't constantly pinging Gmail.
- AI-Powered Sorting: The magic happens with a text classifier. This node uses the "google/gemini-2.0-pro-exp-02-05" model to intelligently sort incoming emails.
- Automatic Labeling: Based on the classifier's decision, n8n automatically adds the correct label to the email in Gmail.
- Custom Actions: Here’s where things get really cool! 🚀 Different actions for each category:
- Promotions: Automatically marked as read! Decluttering at its finest! 👋
- Social: Summarized and added to a Google Sheet! Stay on top of social updates without getting bogged down! 📝
- Personal: A draft reply is created, ready for my personal touch! ✍️
- Sales: Automatically send a reply to sales inquiries! 💰
