Anthropic permanently adds Fable 5 to highest Claude subscriptions on Sunday

After weeks of uncertainty and repeated deadline extensions, Anthropic is drawing a final line under Fable 5 access. Starting Sunday, the model becomes a permanent fixture in the most expensive plans but Pro users are getting a different deal.

🧩 A new structure for Fable 5 access

Following weeks of delays, temporary extensions, and even an export control suspension, Anthropic is settling on a definitive approach. For top-tier subscribers, things change significantly; for everyone else, not so much.

· Max and Team Premium subscriptions: Will get Claude Fable 5 permanently included starting Sunday, July 20. Usage is capped at 50% of weekly rate limits.

· Pro and Team Standard subscribers: Will not get bundled access to Fable 5. Instead, they'll receive a one-time $100 credit to access the model via usage-based credits. This credit covers approximately 10 million input tokens or 2 million output tokens.

⏳ A turbulent rollout

This final structure follows a chaotic period. Fable 5 was pulled shortly after its June 9 launch due to a U.S. government export control suspension on June 12. After those restrictions were lifted on June 30, access was restored but the free-access deadline for all paying users was repeatedly extended as demand consistently outpaced capacity.
