I can't… I just can't 😭 😭. . I need a box of tissues.
I hadn’t even finished writing my assignment on "What I Seek, Seeks Me" (see below), when Diane sent me this amazing new song by Jelly Roll: “Lord, You Are My Strength”. The timing was uncanny — he’s summing up the words I just wrote, especially #1 seeking Peace.
It reminded me that if it hadn’t been for the Lord being my strength, I wouldn’t have made it through the times that taught me what I would no longer tolerate -- the silence without eye contact, the competition, the power struggles, the endless trials, the drama, the toxicity.
God has truly been my refuge, my song, my anchor, and my everlasting strength in every battle.🙏
I’ve spent my whole life chasing PEACE ~until I realized I could create it myself. Now, I protect it fiercely.
WHAT YOU SEEK — SEEKS YOU
What I’m Seeking, Seeks Me
#1 Peace
I want to be accepted without having to perform.
To have the freedom to sit in silence — beside someone who’s comfortable there too.
I’m not looking for another challenge or project.
I seek someone who makes me feel safe to grow older,
to feel safe to simply be myself — no pressure to keep up the looks of my youth or hide every flaw.
I’m finally comfortable in my own skin, and I want to stay that way.
Through it all, I’ve learned:
"Lord, you are my strength, the calm when I’m afraid, the hope in me, every step of the journey — you carry me with grace."
Without Him, I wouldn’t have understood what peace really looks like, or how to demand it in my life.
#2 Respect for My Scars
My scars tell stories — of failure, divorce, and the mistakes that cost me dearly.
I don’t want them erased, only respected.
I don’t need to be fixed or analyzed.
Just sit beside my pain and say,
"I see what you’ve been through, and I’m still here."💖💔
Honor the battles I’ve fought instead of criticizing them.
When we can no longer change an unhealthy situation,
Let's change ourselves to be the best we can be.
Because He lifts me up when I can’t stand tall:
"You catch me every time I start to fall. When I’ve got nothing, you’re still enough. Your mercy lifts me when the road gets rough."💖💔
#3 Companionship Without Competition
I’ve spent a lifetime striving I've worked 80 jobs over 59 years.
I’m tired of power struggles and always being the breadwinner.
It’s so ingrained in me to be self-sufficient and earn my way.
I want a partnership built on mutual respect, emotional connection, and true companionship —
someone who walks beside me, not ahead or behind,
who doesn’t compete with me, but simply shares the journey.
Through all the striving, I stand because His hand holds me:
"Lord, you are my strength… my shelter, my song, the anchor I run to when the storm feels long. Through every valley, I’m safe in your hand. You carry me higher than I can stand."
#4 Shared Purpose
I’m not ready to wind down.
I want to build something meaningful.
To create a life that leaves a legacy,
Moving in a direction I'm passionate about.
When love is rooted in purpose,
It becomes something sacred that endures.
He calls me to rise:
"Your love like a river washes tears from my eyes. You heal every wound, make the weak feel strong. You lift up my soul, set my spirit free, for you are my strength, you’re all I need."
Closing
I’m not searching for anyone — I’m simply clear about the kind of peace and partnership my soul seeks. After years of noise, I finally understand: wholeness is the greatest love story of all.
