Custom Extraction Systems Consulting
If you need help beyond the courses here, I offer remote and in-person consulting for extraction systems. This includes: - C1D1 or C1D2 lab design and layout - SOP's - Cryogenic ethanol systems - Large-scale hydrocarbon (pressurized gas) systems - Heptane, wiped film, chromatography, and LLE setups - Process scaling from basically any scale to commercial throughput - Safety, solvent recovery, and system efficiency work - There are many more areas I have expertise in, if you have questions just reach out. These are custom projects, and the price changes for the type of expertise which is required and the amount of time it takes me and whether I can do it remotely or if I have to travel to your location. This community stays focused on practical, accessible processes you can run yourself. The advanced system design and commercial-scale consulting lives on my website. If that is what you need, go to https://noredfarms.com/ and reach out from there.

START HERE: Read this before anything else
START HERE — Do this first This community is for people who want the real process and chemistry behind making effective plant medicines at home or small scale. Natural medicines have been used far longer than synthetic ones. Many modern drugs are based on plant compounds, but you can make clean, shelf-stable versions yourself when you understand the chemistry, temperatures, solvents, ratios, and systems. I have 8 years of commercial extraction experience (C1D1 labs, cryogenic ethanol, rotary evaporators, short path distillers, hydrocarbon systems, wiped film distillation, chromatography, and more). I started in my kitchen making my own medicines and scaled to systems processing actual tons of material per week. Your first 10 minutes: 1. Go to Classroom → complete “Start Here: Your First Win” 2. Come back and post your result here or under Wins 3. Then work through the free orientation and plant courses How to get good answers: Post in Questions with the plant, solvent, ratios, temperature, time, and what you observed. Tag me if urgent. I answer personally. Do the first exercise when you are ready!

Turning An Extract Into A Finished Product You Can Use And Store
An extract is only useful if it becomes a stable, usable product that does not go bad or lose potency. The goal is shelf-stable preparations you can keep and use over time without rapid degradation. That means paying attention to: - Concentration - Preservation method - Container and storage conditions - Labeling so you know what you have and when it was made Simple finished forms include tinctures, syrups, food infusions, dried powders, capsules, and oils. Each has different stability and uses. In the courses we will cover practical ways to take the extracts from dandelion, elderberry, and ginger and turn them into products that last. The emphasis is on methods you can do with accessible equipment and ingredients. Post finished products, questions about formulation, storage questions, or photos of what you have made in this category.

Extraction Is A Process Not A Recipe
Most people treat extraction like following a single recipe. That approach does not work for many extractions because there are many factors that influence the quality of the final product. What actually determines the quality of the final extract: - The quality of the plant material - How finely the material is chopped or ground - The solvent ratios - Temperature during extraction - Soak times and agitation methods - Filtration and handling after extraction - Temperature you maintain while evaporating solvent - Storage conditions of finished extract - Many other factors which we will cover in depth Compounds come out different under various conditions. Heat-sensitive compounds are damaged by excessive temperature. Some constituents need longer contact time or a stronger solvent. Water, ethanol, ph levels, oils, and other solvents each pull different profiles based on the polarity of the compound/compounds you are extracting The free plant courses (dandelion, elderberry, ginger) will walk through practical methods with real parameters. Later courses expand into more solvent options and refinements. Use this category for questions about methods, solvents, temperatures, equipment, and troubleshooting before, during, or after extractions. Include what you were trying to make and what materials you have when you ask so that I can help you efficiently.

Starting A Simple Medicinal Grow Area
You do not need a large plot or expensive setup to start producing usable plant material. A few containers, a small raised bed, or even a dedicated section of existing garden space is enough for the plants we begin with: dandelion, elderberry, and ginger. But you can use the knowledge you learn to grow many types of plants. If you have questions about specific plants then feel free to ask me questions! Key things that actually matter: - Decent soil or a quality potting mix dialed in for the type of plant you are growing - Consistent water without waterlogging, drainage is very important for most plants - Enough sun for the specific plant you are focusing on - Space for the roots to develop - Growing enough for the finished product that you are going for A lot of plants will eventually want more permanent space, but many can be started in a large container or a protected spot while you decide on a longer-term location. In the Classroom courses we will go deeper into layout, soil, timing, and how growing conditions affect the compounds you later extract. For now, the goal is simply to have living plants or a clear plan to get them. If you already have a grow space or are planning one, post photos or details here. Questions about setup also belong in this category.
