WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL: No Turning Back
This week’s devotional asks us to remember something Jesus specifically told us not to forget:
“Remember Lot’s wife.”
Those three words are easy to read, but they carry a sobering warning.
Lot’s wife was being rescued by the mercy of God. She was being led out of destruction and into safety. Yet somewhere along the way, her heart was still attached to what God was delivering her from. Jesus pointed back to that moment because it reveals something every believer must guard against.
You cannot move forward with God while longing for the life He called you to leave behind.
Many people want a new season, but they keep looking over their shoulder. Some continue replaying past failures. Others hold onto old hurts, old identities, or old ways of thinking. Still others find themselves tempted by the very things Jesus set them free from.
The Lord is always calling us forward. His plans are never found by looking backward. He invites us to fix our eyes on Him, trust His leading, and believe that what He has ahead is greater than anything we leave behind.
As you read THIS WEEK’S DEVOTIONAL, ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. Is there anything you are still looking back toward instead of surrendering completely to Jesus? He is faithful to help us let go so we can run our race with freedom.
We encourage you to take some time with the Lord, read the devotional slowly, and allow His Word to speak to your heart. We’d love to hear what stands out to you as you read.
