Midwest gravel...dreaming up training trips
Now that I have a spring race goal, I'm facing down LONG hours indoors until realistically...April. So, to all my midwest US friends, do you have any favorite gravel rides I can plan a trip around?? Hoping not to drive toooo long, I can hit Nashville after one long day of driving, that would be the max but southern Indiana might fit the bill if there's good gravel to be had. (I'm in northern lower peninsula of Michigan) Ideas??

@Mary H you can also look at the route for the Dust Bowl 100 in central IN.
End of 2025/Reflecting
So I feel like now all I’m seeing on my phone is recaps of people’s years and how good everything has been going. I hope that you’ve had a good one and things have been going well! I read in some of the introductory posts that there’s people here that have overcome cancer and some other pretty major health issues (cannot remember everything exactly but definitely seen people come through some serious stuff which is unreal). Personally had a pretty disappointing year again (lol) with how my health has turned out and the issues that’s caused. I’m not wanting to start moaning here but just for anybody that can relate to it or can take something from it. I know that this is just how social media works and it is what it is with people not sharing negative stuff. But yeah if anybody wants to share anything in this thread then I think that would be cool. I know that people are really encouraging each other within this community and everything I’ve seen has been really positive but if there are negative things then feel free to throw them in here. Reflecting on the year and all that like we do. Personally since I was young my main goal has always been to be happy in life but with how unwell I’ve been feeling a lot of the time over the last years I’m trying to shift the goal to finding peace in myself. That’s my current thinking anyways towards it all. If anybody wants to add anything then feel free sure!

In addition to work being totally insane this year (fires and raids, to say the least), two good friends died unexpectedly, and my recovery from a broken hip has really been a struggle. I made really good progress in early recovery from October 2024 through early January of 2025, but then I overdid work during the fire recovery early months (with a damn cane running around Altadena), I missed PT, I didn't ride as much, and my progress really stagnated for most of the year with the exception of getting some strength back. E.g., I can zurcher squat what I could do before I broke it--finally! But my joint isn't "normal" anymore, and I have weird sensations in hip flexion. It's frustrating at times, but I'm trying to accept it each day as just "different from before" and trust that my cycling capacities can come back up. I had never had such a major injury nor surgery before, so it's been a new experience. I know 2026 will be a more successful year in terms of performance and health and healing. I have an MRI coming up, and I'm doing my PT, and I'm eager to get back to top form for the races. A really tough year ends tonight. I thank God for many inumerable blessings, and I suppose those come with scars and wounds at times, so here we are. Happy New Year!

@Robert Herd major respect.
Daily check in
2+ hour z1/2 cadence drills done… nothing like getting a little boost from setting 2026 PR in everything lol!

Just home from the first day of testing for baselines (in LA rain!). Best 5 min power since I broke my hip Oct 2024, and the main 20 min was on par w my best since the accident. @Anthony Walsh, I might’ve seen Jesus a bit twice. Pretty sure it was him, but you never know when you can’t steer straight.
Daily accountability
60 miles done in -3 degrees to complete the Festive 500. It’s the cold and getting up at 6 am on annual leave to avoid eating into family time that makes it a challenge. Just about getting feeling back in hands and feet. Happy new year all

Happy New Year! It's 3:46 pm in Los Angeles. I did my easy spin to freshen up for the testing tomorrow per AW's orders. 😄 Rain was intermittent--pouring now!
New Nutrition Module
Hi all, I've been busy recording modules for the group today. I've just added a new module into the Nutrition course showing you how I am using Hexis day to day. I'd encourage everyone to take the time to work through the Nutrition module over the next few days and we can discuss any questions you have in Monday's Q&A

Just setting up Hexis, and I'd prefer imperial just out of familiarity and to avoid conversions, but you say to use metric. Just confirming this is your preference for us?

you don't have to be on the desktop for the target weight. It's under "profile" at the top.
