What dedicated logging roll-up pages do you find useful?
Hi guys, Let's compare notes, shall we? I'm pretty sure most folks have already adopted the philosophy Dee teaches and preaches — daily logging is awesome. So, most logged items go into pertinent projects, hub pages, or people's profile pages, etc. But some tend to group themselves into stand-alone pages, where we roll up the items via a DataView query. What views do you find most practical? I, for one, try to keep such pages to a reasonably small number: - insights - decisions - my medical track record (daily actions and deviations from the norm, if any) - my experiments + 'reality contact' outcomes - 'effort log' (for things like meditation and other inner practices) But I am open for suggestions 😃

@Frank Manno The thematic rollups go into relevant Hubs, of course. As well as my weekly review pages (limited to the current week). Standalone rollups are a mixture of several topics and more of a 'time machine' trail. I check them out if I want to get a broader picture of high my thoughts traveled across a longer period of time, say, a month or so.
Start here: introduce yourself
Welcome to The Construct. This is a small group of people who look at Obsidian the same way: not as a note app, but as the place your whole life runs from. Work, studies, health, admin, a business, all of it in one system that makes things simpler instead of adding another thing to manage. If that's how you think, you're among your people. Most of the world doesn't get it. Everyone here does. I built this place because a vault is the starting point, not the finish line. The real system gets built over months, adjusted to your actual life, and that goes faster when other people are building next to you. One note about communities like this: the value isn't in the content, it's in the people. Everyone who's ever got something out of a group like this posted. Nobody who only read did. Reading gets you nothing here. So the first thing to do is say hello. Copy this, fill it in, post it as a comment: Hi, I'm [name] from [city]. I do [what you do]. I've been in Obsidian for [how long]. I want my system to run [work / studies / a business / everything]. The thing that frustrates me right now is [one thing]. When you do, three things happen: I reply to you personally, I unlock the free Obsidian + Claude Basics course for you, and the next person who joins reads yours and posts too. How this place works: - Stuck on anything? Post it in Help. No question is too basic. - Built something? Post it in Showcase. Screenshots looks prettier than descriptions. - Own the Evergreen Vault? You're a Builder: the Builder Kit and the live call every two weeks are yours. Your turn.

Hi everyone, I'm Yuri. I'm an ESL teacher. PKM is a long-time hobby of mine (Evernote -> Roam -> Notion -> Obsidian). I've been following Dee’s YouTube channel for 2 months. Love it. I've learned a lot. I started a new vault, which is now much more usable than my old one. I'm now dabbling in coupling LLMs with Obsidian. I'm just starting out, really. I'm using OpenCode + ChatGPT Plus as a token provider. The Hermes agent sounds like a good direction to explore, too. My main use case is creating & improving study materials for my students. Looking forward to exchanging ideas and best practices.

@Dee Construct I've recently installed Copilot (a popular community plugin), which connects to OpenCode, which, in turn, plugs into my ChatGPT Plus account. So now I do the majority of my tasks right from within Obsidian. It's so very convenient! So much less friction. As for my day-to-day operations, it all comes down to creating the right types of skills, which is also easily done. For instance, after every lesson there's a bunch of phrases and sentence examples left over (I share an online board with every student). The most interesting bits are highlighted or bolded. All I have to do is take a screenshot, paste it into a page I've bookmarked in my Obsidian, and use a slash command: /Obsidian flashcards or /Anki flashcards (depending on the student's preferences). And Bob's your uncle! In about 30 seconds the flashcards are ready to be copied and pasted back onto the student's board. It used to take me 10 minutes or more when I did it manually. I don't have to bother about housekeeping, because the next time I paste a screenshot, the previous artifacts are cleaned up automatically.
Daily logging
Hey everyone, I just wanted to chat about daily logging. I don't know if I'm over logging or under logging, I know all this is subjective. Do you log everything you do all day long? Like 'Coffee with a friend and we chatted about whatever' even though it's not something that would be relevant years from now? Yesterday I had a friend visiting me here in Thailand, and he wanted to hire a scooter so we went around and found a shop. I logged it, but this one could be valid because I might want to know what shop it was one day .. But if something is not relevant years from now, would you log it just for the sake of the weekly roll up, giving you a good idea of what you did that week? What about routine things like let's say you go for a morning walk always at the same place. Would you bother logging it every day? I understand you could log a gym session every day and just note what you worked on though.. What if you just have very quiet routine days for a couple of days? What's there to log? Keen to hear how you all use the logs..

Logging is kind of a "background activity" that is now the new normal for me. I know that I probably didn't have a good day when the log section of my daily note is sparse. The opposite is also true. A long list of logged items means I probably had a productive day, because I was present and had enough "juice" to record things. If I can log it, I will. For instance, I log my medical routine. A Dataview query shows everything neatly. I log every "effort" that's related to a project. Very handy. I log my insights and roll them up on a dedicated page that I revisit every few days. It wasn't always like this. I distinctly remember many times when I wished I had made a record of something.
