☕ Let's Talk: Selfish or Finally Choosing Yourself?
Here's something I'd love to hear your thoughts on. Why is it that when a woman reaches a certain stage in life and starts putting herself first, she can suddenly be seen as selfish? For years, many of us have been the ones making sure everyone else is okay. We adjust our plans, put our own needs aside and keep everything running. But what happens when we start saying no? When we want more time for ourselves, or decide we don't want to do things just because everyone expects us to? Some people might call that selfish. Others might call it growth. 🌟So, here's my question: Do you think women become more selfish in midlife, or do we simply become less willing to put ourselves last? 🌟Have you experienced this yourself, or do you see it differently? I'd really love to hear your opinions and experiences. Even if we don't all agree, I think this is a conversation worth having. 🤎

I think we’re not becoming selfish; we’re learning that we matter too. ❤️ After years of putting everyone else first, choosing ourselves without guilt is part of healing and growth. Healthy boundaries don’t mean we love others any less. 🤎 How many of us have spent so long caring for everyone else that we’ve forgotten how to care for ourselves? ❤️

@Lindi Harmse, so true! ❤️ Sometimes we become so used to being everything for everyone that we feel guilty when we finally make space for ourselves. But we matter too, and we can love others without losing ourselves in the process. 🤎 What a beautiful reminder that choosing ourselves is not selfishness; it’s learning to honour our own needs too. 🌷

Mine would have to be “June Feels Like Healing” by Rahmah Bae. 🤍🎶https://youtu.be/QDpNmqZjzfc?si=0lg3F9gNFbTabB0b It’s one of those songs that just hits differently. It feels like healing, growth, and finally being able to breathe again after some heavy seasons. 🥹✨ And yes, I’ll sing along in the car too! 😂🎤 Music has a way of saying what our words sometimes can’t.

@Lindi Harmse Thank you, Lindi. 🤍🥹 It really does. Some songs meet us in places where words simply aren’t enough. Sometimes healing sounds like a song that reminds us we can breathe again, trust the process, and embrace the new things God is growing within us. 🌱🎶🙏
Midweek Check In: What's Your Yellow Sign? 🟡
Happy Wednesday everyone, midweek check in time. 🧡 Thank you for sharing your green on Monday, I loved reading every one. Husbands, kids, the yorkies, car dancing with the music up loud, quiet mornings on your own. A few of you also said yellow has been showing up more lately because work got busier or life just got full. That's good to notice. 🌿 Today is about your yellow sign. It's the first little thing your body does when it's getting ready for trouble. Mine is tight shoulders and a bit of anxiety. When I feel my shoulders creeping up towards my ears, I know I'm in yellow. Yours might be a tight jaw, a short fuse, scrolling without taking anything in, or lying awake at 3am with your mind going. Lots of us have had the same sign for years and thought it was just how we are. Once you know yours, you can catch it before it turns red. That's all we're doing this week. No fixing, just noticing. 📄 Open your My Traffic Light Map, fill in the yellow box and tick the tracker once a day. If you haven't opened it yet, that's fine, it's there when you're ready. 👉 Vote in the poll, then tell me in the comments what your yellow sign is. 🟡

🟡 My yellow sign is definitely feeling overwhelmed and starting to withdraw. I tend to keep pushing until I realise I actually need to pause and breathe. I’m learning to recognise those signs earlier. 🌿🤍

@Lindi Harmse thank you Lindi. Absolutely 🤍 I think “catching it sooner” is the part I’m learning most. Not waiting until I’m completely drained before I give myself permission to slow down. 🌿
The Nerve Running The Show 🌿
A couple of weeks back we talked about the six places calm actually shows up in your body. This week I want to introduce you to the nerve that's actually running a big part of that show. It's called the vagus nerve, and it's honestly wild once you get it, it's the longest nerve in your whole autonomic nervous system, running from the base of your brain, right down through your neck, your chest, your gut. Three of those six places we talked about, your heart slowing down, your breath deepening, your digestion switching back on, that's not three separate things happening, that's one nerve doing its job in all three places at once. And here's the part that matters for you this week, when things get too intense, when you're overwhelmed, when old stuff is weighing on you, the vagus nerve is what steps in and hits the chill-out button. It tells your heart to ease up and your breathing to slow down. You don't have to talk yourself into calm, your body already has a switch for it, you just need to know how to reach it. 📄🌿 I made you something to go with this one, Reach The Switch, it walks you through the exact breathing pattern that reaches that switch, plus a tracker to actually use it this week. 👇🌿 Tell me in the comments, is breathwork something you already do, or is this brand new for you? 📊Where are you with breathing practices?

I’ve actually done breathing exercises before with my life coach, but the vagus nerve is something completely new to me. 🌿 I find it fascinating to learn how our bodies respond to what we’re experiencing, and I’m definitely curious to learn more about this. ❤️

@Lindi Harmse I’m actually finding this whole topic fascinating. The more I learn about how our bodies respond to what we experience, the more I realise how much we can learn by simply paying attention and listening to our bodies. 🌿❤️ Looking forward to learning more about the vagus nerve!
Which season has your whole heart? ☀️⛄🍂🌸
Can we talk about this weather for a second. We had the most beautiful first week of spring, sunshine, warm afternoons, birds going nuts in the garden, all of it. And now, just a few days in, we've swapped straight into a rainy, windy cold front. Classic South African spring, one day it's giving beach vibes, the next it's asking you to find your winter coat again. Got me thinking about favorite seasons, and mine has always been summer, no contest. Something about the days stretching out and the sun sticking around just switches something on in me, I've got more energy and I feel properly alive instead of just getting through the day. So tell me, what's your season? The one that makes you feel most like yourself. 👇Drop a gif in the comments that captures it. ☀️⛄🍂🌸
