Hey everyone!For May’s Character Drawing Studio Monthly Drawing Challenge, we’re diving into the world of MERMAIDS in honor of the annual art challenge known as β€œMerMay!” Your challenge is to create your own original mermaid character design.This can be: - Heroic - Funny - Cute - Creepy - Elegant - Pirate-inspired - Deep sea monster inspired - Cartoony or realistic - Think about:✨ Shape Language✨ Silhouette✨ Personality✨ Costume & Accessories✨ Sea Creature Inspiration✨ Pose & Expression You can push the design as far as you want: - A royal ocean queen - A goofy reef explorer - A glowing deep sea mermaid - A warrior mermaid riding a sea creature - A tiny whimsical mermaid living in a teacup shell - Anything your imagination comes up with! - πŸ“… Challenge Goal:Try to complete at least ONE finished mermaid design during the month of May and share it with the group! @Angel Alvarez thank you. The overall build of the character so far is too bulky because I'm so used to drawing bulky male fantasy characters, so I definitely love the challenge of reaching in to this character so I can learn some new aspects to sketching a powerful but compact physiology. The tail is something that I'm still unsure of in that I have an idea of how I want it's movements to be and I think going with an eel-like tail is where I've settled. I had originally thought of using a shark-like lower half to give the sense of open-water speed but then I could make the torso make sense in my head.
