Day 2: Evaluate Challenge
🔍 “Reflect on a Student You Can’t Stop Thinking About” Think of one student who you will never forget, because of their energy, their silence, their struggles, or their spark. Now ask yourself: What might this student be telling me without saying a word? Write down one thing you've learned from observing them, and one thing you want to try in response. Without naming the student, share a reflection: "Here’s one thing I’ve learned from my students—and how I’m choosing to respond."

Here's one thing I learned from my students, that I don't have to have it altogether and I have to show myself grace too. I'm choosing to respond by not only taking off the perfection hat but allow my students to see the productive struggle sometimes. My 4th graders this year saw me through some tough times and would even tell me to give myself grace and that they don't expect me to be perfect. I think in those vulnerable moments they saw me as human and much like them. It made me build close connections, just being myself and showing them that although I am a grown up I have days like them where it isn't all tidy and put together.
Teacher Vibe
How do you buffer yourselves at work from any negative coworkers?

I learned very quickly to find my people and those that are not in agreement for the common goal, supportive, positive and I feel I can trust, I keep engagement professional and keep a safe distance. I would lean into the wrong people as a new teacher and learned quickly not everyone has your best interest at heart. I also tend to be an introvert so my classroom is my safe space so I keep to myself.
Day 1: Encourage + Engage Challenge
📝 “Write your First Day Message” Craft a short welcome message you’ll share with your students on Day 1. Something that sets the tone for your classroom culture. It could be a sentence, quote, or mantra that reflects the vibe you want all year. I'll start. "Before we get started this year, the one thing I need you to always remember is ...'if it is possible, you are capable." If it can be figured out, you are smart enough, strong enough, and capable enough to figure it out"

@Antwoine Williams Love this not just for the students but for us as educators, we go through so much but knowing that at the end of the day our worth and value will remain speaks volumes.

@Antwoine Williams I stuck at self care both as a teacher and as a wife and mom, I am going to make that a priority this year as well.
