Bot Recommendation
I recently built a house on 10ac. I'm looking to add a robot mower for ~1ac around my house. There's a very slight slope, but the biggest issue are the trees. We cleared a small grove and kept several that are scattered around the yard, so obstacle avoidance is important. I had a Landroid at my old house and loved it, left it with the house, and looking to upgrade to something that can handle my new yard. I was hoping you could make a recommendation? I've looked at the Navimow X430 and Mammotion Luba 3 AWD, but was curious your opinion on those or any others I should consider?

Glad to have found this site! We have a nearly 8-year-old Honda Miimo and are hoping to replace it this year. Would like to avoid boundary wires. Suggestions regarding which mower might be best for a little less than 0.5 acre? Thanks!

@Todd Gleaves — Yes, we install gates often. There’s lots of options available today and work rather reliably. The one in this post (shown above) is a top pick because it’s lower profile in height and wider to accommodate the EPOS path. If you can get away with a non-latching gate then you don’t have to replace the batteries - which eliminates big hassle. If you need a latching gate for pet concerns then the Segway Mowgate (shown below) would be the right choice. It’s made to work seamlessly with the Navimow camera system to improve alignment for passing through but is universal enough to work with any brand of robot.

Jason Scott is the founder and CEO of Autonomowus Lawn Company, a family-owned robotic mowing company serving the Oklahoma City metro. After nearly two decades in control systems engineering, Jason made a simple move that changed the game: he traded his riding mower for a robot so he could spend more time with his family and fewer weekends running laps in the yard. The result felt like unlocking a cheat code—and it sparked a new mission: help families, schools, and organizations reclaim their time by putting robots to work. Today, Jason leads Autonomowus Lawn with a clear conviction: “WE were MADE for MORE than MOWING.” His team designs, installs, and maintains robotic mowing systems for homeowners, churches, school districts, parks, sports fields, and large commercial sites across Oklahoma. Under his leadership, Autonomowus partners with leading brands like Husqvarna, Mammotion, Segway, Yarbo, and FJ Dynamics, delivering projects that range from backyard lawns to major industrial facilities—including the largest tire recycling plant in the U.S. Jason’s engineering background and passion for sustainability shape every system the company builds. Autonomowus offers Virtual Property Proposals, turnkey installation, Rent-A-Mower programs, Robot Retirement options, and ongoing Maintain-Me services—designed to remove friction and make robotic mowing practical for real people with real schedules. Jason also teaches and writes on robotic lawn care, LEED-focused sustainability, and the future of electric outdoor equipment, helping others navigate the shift from gas to automation with confidence. Beyond the tech, Jason is a follower of Christ, a husband, and a dad to five kids—so he knows how valuable evenings and weekends really are. The Robot Lawncare by Autonomowus Skool community is an extension of that calling: a place where robot owners and tech-curious neighbors learn together, level up their setups, and encourage one another to use reclaimed time for what matters most—faith, family, and calling.
