This will be my second year in a saddle and first with trad gear. I was skeptical about saddles but I can get in so many areas that I couldn’t before. My climber is limited but a saddle opens more opportunities
Down the rabbit hole!
We are two weeks away from closing on our NH house. Just about everything is packed up. Been out straight the last two months. Got up this morning to a steady rain. Sat on the couch for some R&R. Started watching(I should say still watching) some board bow building on YouTube. After a few hours, I headed to Home Depot and picked up a pc of oak and a pc of maple. Went out to the garage and glued up a maple 62” blank with oak glued on for the riser. Then a 30” blank for Little Bear and a 36” for Little Bear that is oak with maple glued on the riser. Felt good to do something productive. LOL

👉 What Do You Wish Someone Had Told You?
What's the one piece of advice you wish you'd gotten when you first picked up a traditional bow? Could be about form. Could be about mindset. Could be something your dad or granddad told you that stuck. I'll start: "The work IS the point."... That one's been drilled into my head and I've seen it lived out firsthand. Whether it's the podcast, the courses, or showing up here daily, doing the work...more importantly....who you become through that process Now your turn. Drop your one piece of advice below. Let's build a thread of wisdom the new guys can find. 👇 -Jenn

Fly Fishing & Traditional Bowhunting
Do you fly fish? Have you ever thought about it trying out traditional archery or learning to hunt with a recurve or longbow? The two share similar process and qualities. Beyond fly fishing, old school heritage skill sets matter, and they all connect you to the same path that bow hunting does with a recurve or longbow bladesmithing, bush crafting -woodworking and many other skills relate to this as well. Throw a comment below if you have other processes and skills that relate back to traditional archery we’d love to hear about them!

I started fly fishing in NE Tennessee in the mid 90’s. I fly fished weekly for years and into my years in Central PA in the early 2000’s. I have only fly fished a couple times in the last few years. But I have several rods just not a lot of good fly fishing where I live at least for trout.
