French Sounds — CH, J, R, and GN
Salut! Today you're learning four distinctly French sounds and the different ways they can be spelled. Video below Le son CH — like the "sh" in English ch → cheval / sch → schéma Le son J — a soft, buzzing sound (no English equivalent) j → jour / g → manger, girafe, génial (g makes this sound before e, i, or y) Le son R — the famous French R, made at the back of the throat r → rouge, partir, gare Le son GN — like the "ny" in "canyon" gn → montagne, oignon, gagner, compagnon Once you feel comfortable with these, you'll start hearing them everywhere! Can you make a few sentences using today's words? Write them in the comments below!

Really appreciate the Quebec pronunciation. Un sounds like “erhn” to me which has been a tricky one.
