After hearing Sherif Foda speak today, what stayed with you most?
My biggest personal takeaway from the session: A lot of things in energy aren’t impossible — they’re a question of will, execution, and economics. Today, we covered everything from building NESR to leadership, energy transition, and scaling in complex markets. What stayed with you most? Drop your thoughts and reflections in the comments You can find the session recording on the classroom section of the community! What stayed with me most was that success in energy is not just about having a great idea. It is about earning the ability to execute it. What I took from Sherif Foda’s journey is that he did not build NESR overnight. He built capability first through hard work, deep industry knowledge, strong relationships, and years of learning how the market really works. Over time, that gave him the vision to see where the opportunity was, and the resources and credibility to scale it. That message hit me personally because I see a similar path in the power markets. I see opportunities in the market, and I am building the models, knowledge, and network around them now. His story helped me realize that the real edge is not just spotting an opportunity, but developing the discipline, relationships, and execution needed to turn it into something real. To me, that was the true message: opportunity favors people who prepare long enough to act on it.

Hi guys, my name is Weldon. I'm a student at Tulane University studying my Master of Management in Energy. 1. What are you working on right now in energy?Right now I’m building an ERCOT-focused trading research stack. My main focus is understanding how day-ahead and real-time prices separate, especially around congestion, constraint behavior, and forecast error. I’m combining data analytics, probabilistic modeling, and market structure research so I can move beyond just studying the market and start thinking like a trader within it. 2. What excites you most about the next 12 months in your career? What excites me most is turning all of this from theory into real edge. Over the next 12 months, I’m focused on deepening my ERCOT knowledge, sharpening my quantitative toolkit, and putting myself in a position where I can contribute meaningfully in power trading. I’m especially excited about closing the gap between being academically strong and being genuinely useful in a live market environment. 3. One question to everyone else in the network...For someone trying to break into power trading and become useful quickly, what’s one skill, habit, or way of thinking that matters more in practice than people realize?
