🏨 Rome Hotels Are Expensive... One thing that surprised me while planning my trip to Rome was just how expensive hotels can get. It's not uncommon to see rooms priced at $500+ per night, especially if you want to stay right in the heart of the city. If you're staying 5 nights, that's easily $2,500 or more on hotels alone. For me, that's a hard pass. Instead, I used Hilton Honors points for my stay. Now, not every points redemption is a good deal, and I'm generally a conservative traveler when it comes to spending points. Did I book a hotel directly next to the Colosseum? Nope. What I did book was a Hilton property located right next to a metro station that gets me into the heart of Rome in about 20 minutes.
