Safety factor in using Ultrasound on neck
How do we manage the risk of using the device around the Carotid artery? Using the auricular branch on the ear is an approach used by zen bud.
@Kelly Maas look at the green shaded region of ear.
Please check zenbud which is using this area. The neck seems to be risky.
Tens unit vs Ultrasound
Are these units the same thing? In the module where it’s shown how to turn on and use the unit and placement, it’s recommended to begin using the ultrasound the high setting for 10 minutes. Do those recommenation apply to the tens unit as well? Thank you
It is believed that lower intensity is better for VNS. There is certainly a goldilock range. Higher intensity causes inhibition of vagus conduction. That is bad if you want to increase excitation. However, if you want to suppress conduction (may be in over active situations), it could make sense.
Switching from TENS based (like pulsetto) to Ultrasound
Is there anyone who has switched to Ultrasound by stopping use of TENS based solution? Doing both means we don’t know which one is working. :-)
The ever popular topic of US 1000 vs 2000
The main difference between the two is power but does stronger automatically mean better? Did the stronger 2000 lead to faster or better results? For those who have both, what made one model better for you than the other?
I think lower intensity is better. Based on a study I read, we will benefit from lower intensity. // Ultrasound neuromodulation can produce either inhibition or excitation depending on parameters like intensity, frequency, duty cycle, and duration—low intensities often excite via mechanical ion channel effects, while higher ones inhibit via thermal disruption. The study’s high intensities favored inhibition, but later vagus ultrasound works use lower parameters to achieve excitatory, therapeutic outcomes like reduced inflammation, heart rate lowering, or motor recovery without blocking conduction.
