When to condition
First know what a loc is truly.: Hair that has fallen out but did not have a chance to hit the ground. Some may say a mat or a tangle. Conditioner is great to use but you have to know when and how often. Let’s talk about the makeup of conditioners. There are all sorts but the main idea is to soften and lock in moisture or to treat conditions. Humectants and softening agents as well as medication. Conditioner is not good for the scalp unless it is formulated as a scalp conditioner. Leave in conditioners are great but for locs they can cause a build up if used to often or even unravel the loc. Moisture conditioners are phenomenal because normally the hair being locked is hair that needs moisture. Keep in mind conditioners will loosen the loc so don’t use to often. You should use conditioner once a month. I know that sounds silly but hear me out. Think about when you condition hair in its natural state. What happens? Softens and detangles. It will do the same to the locs. Instead be sure that what ever loc product you are using is conditioning, helps maintain moisture and won’t create build up. Don’t forget the hold as well. That’s another conversation. Let me know in the comments if this helps you.

At First
When I fist got started I would sit and twist my hair. I thought hey I am a hairdresser I can do this. Plus, I was a struggling 20yr old who didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out…in my mother’s voice. Well after several sessions of doing my own hair it felt promising to begin doing others. Well that’s how my journey began. How did you begin?

Long time post
I encourage everyone to try something new. Try new style, that new workout or even that new food. Opening up yourself to something new shows respect for yourself to continue trying and learning new things. Question: What would you like for me to demonstrate? All to often we post from our own thoughts but today I am trying something “New”. Your Needs is why you’re here so let me meet them.

Did you know that simply dividing your hair straight down the middle and twisting each side back then putting them in one pony tail can be a game changer when you're in between retwist. One a little pizazz add some silver or gold charms. Want a more feminine look section to the side then back down the middle.

@Tia Amore I did this real quick on a student that has free form and a half head. I will do more of a formal video once I get him a retwist. Just want to make it quick for you and not leave you hanging.
A long time
It’s been a while since I last posted, but I am still here, twisting and locking hair as the days go by. I was just looking at my hair thinking. When am I going to restart my journey? It’s hard to wanna do your own hair due to time and the fact that I have to hold my hands up and stress out my shoulders. I want to hear from you if you have locks how do you get through re-twisting your hair if you do.?
