During the Self-Publishing coaching call earlier today, one of the members discussed her paranormal book for teens, so naturally I mentioned @Elizabeth O'Carroll as someone to connect with. I had interviewed Elizabeth about paranormal activity months ago, and know I shouldn't have been surprised that the first person to pop on our co-writing call tonight was Elizabeth, but there she was. And then the room glowed bright pink. @Ryan Clark had a beautiful sunset playing on his computer. The hot pink glow made me think about Dolly and her being present on our call. There we were—Elizabeth, Ryan, @Shannon Zagst, and me—each arriving with whatever we had brought into the room, and each moment connecting to another. I have been fascinated by the idea that we are all one and instantly connected on the spiritual plane the moment someone thinks about us, and us them. It's like an invisible thread that connects each of us. Isn't it extraordinary that when we think about someone, they call or text, or you run into them the next day even though you haven't seen them in ages? This is the kind of magic that occurs in Sacred Writing Sessions. Who came to mind as you read this—and what might happen if you reached out to them?

The moment I heard about Dolly Parton yesterday, I thought about Miley Cyrus. I think we shall all remember where we were and the clasping of our chest when we heard that Dolly had transitioned into the Spiritual Realm. This is part of what I wrote in this morning's Co-Writing Session. First, I looked up her birthday, January 19, 1946 and saw she was an 8 of Diamonds - The Sun Card. Of course, she was. Dolly's Light will continue to shine bright. She was a legend and her legacy will continue to ripple through the generations. Dear to my heart was her generosity in providing millions of children the gift of receiving books. The Imagination Library has provided children with 300 million books to date, and was inspired in 1998 by her father who couldn't read or write. Dolly's voice was angelic, and she was a prolific songwriter with 3000 songs to her credit. More than anything she was an extraordinary storyteller. Her light and lightheartedness will be missed by all who loved and admired her. My heart goes out to her family and all who Dolly embraced as family. We shall always love you, Dolly. I love the sacred writing sessions, I let the energy flow and guide my project and my pen. Today, the pen had me ponder how I am playing with fun ideas and ignoring the tough ones. I have one project that makes me cry every time I put focus to it. It's a happy ending, but there is dark truth before you get to bright light of it. Writing is a very spiritual practice for me, one that I am dedicate to everyday. Today I wrote this in my journal then transcribed to ChatGPT Then I promised myself to dedicate at least 1 day a week to the project with all the knots that tends to allow me to unravel my own truth. Titled: Knot to Become Undone. Here is the piece that was produced in today's Sacred Writing Session. 🪢Knot to Become Undone The hardest piece of writing is the one with the knot. Not a nautical knot that I can teach someone, or someone can teach me. Not a knot made with rope and practiced hands. This is the knot that was tied in fear. Quick. Tie it up. Too loose, and everything unravels. But with every stroke of my pen, it unravels mindfully. The wound that was dismissed. The hurt that was forgotten. The tightness tied so tightly that I could no longer see it. Slowly, word by word, it comes undone. Writing is my spiritual practice. I dream of truth. I laugh at the wholesomeness I feel. I feel seen by myself, for myself, all by myself. I write for me. Short stories and posts can be fun, flowery and shared with friends. And I love them for that. But I must still return to the difficult one—the one where every phrase leads me closer to the darker truth. Why is the truth so dark? It is hidden by this rope that casts a shadow from in all directions. All you can see is the rope. The truth is suffocating underneath it. There is a lesson there. And the lesson wants to be seen. By me—the person. By me—the writer. It wants to be understood. And perhaps, eventually.. ..It wants to be shared. Because when it all makes sense, the knot I made becomes something others can learn from.

So much of what we practice inside The Language Portal begins with pausing to listen. We become present, and the noise quiets. We stop trying to force the perfect sentence and listen for what is already there. Next week, I’ll bring some of this work into a much bigger room when I speak at Elizabeth Ocean's Catalyst event.
