❤️Hi, I’m Christi and it’s So Nice to Meet You!
It’s been a minute… Some of you know me as the Long Distance Mimi, but there’s a little more to my story! I’m 67, married to Mike, mom to Mikey and my daughter Janelle, whom we lost to cancer in 2001 when she was just 17. I’m also Mimi to Carter and Chloe, who live in Nebraska while we’re in beautiful Washington State. I love traveling, learning, trying new things, and figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. Still working on that one! A little about my professional background. I’ve spent more than 25 years working in adult learning, personal development, and behavior change. I’m certified in Tiny Habits, CliftonStrengths, coaching, and change management. I also graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University at 53. Yep, I’m a lifelong learner! Here’s what I believe. We can keep growing, changing, making friends, and having adventures at ANY age. And I know a thing or two about helping people turn good intentions into action. I’m not a therapist. I’m a guide on the side who believes we learn by DOING. We try things, see what works, and adjust. Because failure is data! That’s what I want Reignite Your Life to be. A place for friendship, fun, adventure, new ideas, and women who aren’t done living their lives! You can love your family deeply AND build a life of your own that you love. ❤️ Now, let’s hear about YOU! What’s something you’d love to try, do, or experience in this chapter of your life? Christi ❤️ Your Long Distance Mimi

I am a 59 year old Mom to an only child, my daughter who lives in Arizona and my husband and I are grandparents to two beautiful boys, 1 and 3. I had a miscarriage at 34 then was unable to conceive. I always wondered what Moms of multiples do because I only have one. I do have a friend with three children who live in Colorado, Arizona and North Carolina all with children. She has to be a long distance grandma. Her children mostly plan trips together to her state which is nice. I fly four to five times a year to Arizona. I got my Masters in Teaching and Learning at age 50. I am now a retired teacher and am ready to add adventure to my life. Hoping to use travel money to see the National Parks out West!
Help Me Help You!❤️
Have you downloaded one of my guides? Tried an idea? Had a conversation that went better because of something you learned here? I want to hear about it! You know me. I’m all about taking what we learn and putting it into action. Because information sitting in a PDF isn’t doing anybody much good. 😂 So tell me! ❤️ What did you find helpful? ❤️ What have you actually tried? ❤️ What worked? What didn’t? ❤️ Would you recommend the guide to another grandma? Your feedback helps me figure out what’s working, what needs a little tweaking, and what I should create next. And your experiences may be just what another grandma needs to hear. You can share your thoughts right here in the comments or send me a private DM. And please, don’t feel like you have to tell me everything was wonderful. Help me help you. That’s how we make this community better for everyone! ❤️

When talking about Christmas with my daughter, knowing the mother in law will want to keep her schedule and traditions, I asked my daughter, “What matters to you the most?”
☕ Weekend Mimi Thoughts: Before You Move Closer…
Happy weekend, ladies! I've been reading a LOT of comments from grandparents who moved closer to their adult kids, only to have their kids divorce. Now they're living somewhere they don't particularly want to be, and the whole reason they moved has changed. And it got me thinking about something I didn't include in my Moving Closer Guide. How solid is your adult child's marriage or relationship (or maybe even yours)? I know. Nobody wants to think about their kids getting divorced. And I'm certainly not suggesting you sit them down and ask for their five-year marriage forecast. 😂 But divorce happens. Jobs change. Custody arrangements change. Grandkids sometimes move away. Before you sell your house, leave your friends, and start packing boxes, consider the risks. And have a Plan B. Here's a question worth asking yourself: If your adult kids divorced tomorrow, and your grandkids ended up living somewhere else, would you still be happy living where you moved? Because that's a BIG decision to make based on circumstances you don't control. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of moving closer. I did it myself! But I want you to think about the things that don't always make it onto the pros and cons list. NEXT WEEK: We're turning this conversation around. When should you consider moving BACK or moving AWAY from your adult kids and grandkids? I have four years of personal experience with that one. 😂 ❤️ Let's talk! Have you considered what would happen if your adult child's relationship changed after you moved? Or has this happened to you? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

My husband and I put an offer on a house in Arizona in the same neighborhood as my daughter, her husband and children last April. The offer was not accepted and that turned out to be a good thing as two months later some major issues came up in my daughter’s marriage and she was ready to leave her husband and move 1,800 miles back home with us. She is back in Arizona and they are getting good counseling, but she told us to give it a year like a “we’ll see.” I want things to work out with them and us to be able to buy a second home near them, but we will definitely keep our current home and always have a Plan B.
Here for the Moving Closer Guide? Start here! ❤️
If my post about moving closer to our son and grandkids brought you here, welcome! I’m glad you found us. Mike and I made that move thinking being closer would automatically mean more family time and make me happier. It didn’t turn out quite the way I pictured. And judging by the THOUSANDS of comments on that post, I’m definitely not the only one figuring this shizzle out. 😂 So I created the guide I wish we’d had BEFORE we moved. It covers the conversations to have with your grown kids, expectations on BOTH sides, costs, weather, friendships you may be leaving behind, whether to rent before buying, doing a trial run first, and my Random Tuesday Test. 👉 Click the link below or go to the Classroom and open “Thinking About Moving Closer to Your Kids?” https://www.skool.com/reignite-your-life/classroom/d8bd85fe?md=63d9190ad6024d29a7aca09df6601a01 The PDF is waiting for you there. Download it, grab a cup of coffee, and take your time with it. Then come back here and tell me: Are you thinking about moving closer, already did it, or decided NOT to? I have a feeling we’re going to have some GREAT conversations around this one. ❤️ Love them like crazy. Build your life too.

Thank you for your posts! I was drawn to them because my daughter (Arizona) lives 1,800 miles from my husband and I (Wisconsin). We are considering buying a second home near her to be a part of her life and be closer to our grandsons, 1 and 3 years old. I believe in keeping family systems separate. The in-laws live one neighborhood away and are very involved in their lives. My daughter wants us close too, but I am thinking at least 10-15 minutes away. Anyways, this home purchase is not even close yet so we fly down a lot. We are always welcome there and she is always welcome here too!
