Your local Flutarian, serving sweet harmonies... would we vibe??
When I saw my friend Gregory Alexander last weekend (at the Austin Vegan Musicians meetup) I was pleased to see him... I'd seen him here or there since then, but the last time we played music together was 3 years ago, when he played this original song and I improvised on flute. I captured the moment. That doesn't always happen! I am so grateful that I've had the resources & environments to learn to improvise on flute. People started asking me "Where do you teach?" so I made a group on FB called Flutarians: helping flutists improvise... but we're on Skool now and it's better!! Don't you think?! Skool suggested the V1B1N Tribe when I was looking for music groups 😎 And yall seemed cool... so here I am! How do you imagine a flute would go with your music?? I would love to make some new duets!! (PS - Bet I know some other flutists who would like to too!)

Here are the lyrics to Gregory's song: Well, you sank to the bottom of the river it seems, Where the river is joined by the cold water streams, And he walked toward the city where they waited on the dock And you Rose from Below, and gave them quite a shock And they followed you, like they followed the savior And they followed you, and they watched your behavior Like a book in the sand needs an inquiring mind to go on Like a bird in their hand they needed you and your song To go on and on, and on and on... So you lifted your head like a leaf to the breeze To the forest you came and you sank to your knees, And all the people sat down in a circle real tight And all their souls and their singing turned dark into light...

@Rositsa Aleksandrova Thank you!!! I am frequently telling my "Flutarians" something like "less is more!" and "let the music breathe!" And conversely, "always play with a confident tone!" I think listening is the most important skill in improvising and it takes practice to learn how to listen for when it's the perfect time for the flute and when it's time to sit out. Thanks for noticing 😊
