Confessionals !!
BTS of a new series I am shooting for my dresses! Especially since I got to create these dresses anyways.. I’ve decided to level up my content and shoot with intent! I shot this with my Xtra Muse! In this season I’m posting the content anyways… real, raw, and without perfection ! 🥰 I like to use my Sundays to finalize and plan for the week! How did you spend your Sunday? 🥰

I’m rebranding this year. Officially decided to design for sizes 12-22. I’ve always wanted to do it but had to learn how to sew first (p.s. I’ve been sewing since 2012) just now stepping into prom/bridal as of last year. I will be purchasing my business cards this year, already applied for Fall Fashion Week as a Designer. I had to re-do one of my clients/best friends dresses for Adult prom. Almost done with the hubby’s blazer for prom. Also worked with muslin for my demo vow renewal dress which came out 🔥🔥🔥

Patterns
I was curious if anyone else uses a plotter to print patterns?

@Charlotte Robinson yea, I found out A0 is better to print. And no problem.
Muslin
I officially decided towards the end of last year that I was going to start using muslin so I won’t mess up my gorgeous fabrics. I was able to purchase some earlier this month. I made a demo mermaid skirt for my Vow renewal (re-do). I thought I was a size 20 in store bought patterns. I’m actually a size 22 due to curves. I found the corset top I want but it only goes to a 2XL. Do you guys have any advice? I’m more home schooled and self taught. 😮‍💨😪😓

I haven’t printed the actual pattern YET. I literally just ran out of ink for my printer. I’ll ask my sister if she can print it for me.

@Ashontay Hubbard I definitely need it to be super snatched. I’m also looking for a good fabric for the base of the actual dress. I’m learning about lace placement. My main fabric is HEAVILY beaded. Because I am busty and thick I dont think a transparent corset would be a good idea BUT I’ve always wanted one LOL
Pricing Resource
Hey Designers! 🤍 I was under the weather last week, so it took me out for a few days however I’m back and wanted to share a pricing resource I use regularly. The app is called Crafting Calculator, and it’s a great tool for designers who struggle with pricing or want to make sure their prices actually make sense. I personally use it to: ➡️Break down true material costs (main fabric, lining, notions, etc.) ➡️Factor in labor costs — whether I’m paying a seamstress or paying myself Here’s how I typically use it for custom work: 1. Cost of materials: What you’re really spending on fabric, lining, notions, and extras 2. Number of items made: I usually enter 1 for custom pieces 3. Hourly wage: Typically $25–$50/hour, depending on the complexity of the gown. This is your labor cost, so be realistic and practical 4. Retail profit: This is the sweet spot — it determines what you actually profit after all wholesale costs are covered For most of my gowns, my markup falls between 150%–300%. 🗣️You are the CEO and Only YOU can determine what PERCENTAGE is comfortable or needed to help your business run. If the cost is above what your brand normally charges try 100%. The point is to understand why you charge what you are charging not because I told you to do so ! 🫣 I hope this helps anyone who’s been second-guessing their pricing or feeling unsure about charging what their work is truly worth. 💕

Thank you, I’ve been struggling with pricing for years.
Materials
what do you guys do on your spare time when still creating if you run out of materials/supplies?l and low on funds? I feel like I go crazy because I have so many ideas, sometimes I sketch BUT I HAVE TO SEW!!!
