Introduce Yourself! Why did you join the Alignment Lab?
👋🏼 Hey there, I’m Evan. I’m the coach of The Alignment Lab. I spent 18 years in full-time pastoral ministry and over 20 years at the same church prior to my own major life transition. I’m also the host of The In-Between podcast — where I chat about transition with guests such as Suzanne Stabile, Andy Squyres, Kathryn Maack, Tyler Reagin, Kristi Gaultiere, Michael Shahan, and more. After 18 years in pastoral ministry — and over 20 years at the same church — I stepped away. It wasn’t just a career change. It was an unraveling of a life I had built. I’ve successfully walked through: 👉 Vocational upheaval and change. 👉 The grief of relational loss. 👉 The deep identity questions that come when the role you built your life closes. I’ve also experienced what’s on the other side: 👉 Rebuilding trust in myself and in God’s ongoing work in my life. 👉 Recognizing my strengths and skills still matter, even outside the context I once relied on. 👉 A new season that’s aligned with calling and meaning, instead of the roles and expectations I thought I had to live up to. That’s why I created this community. So you don’t just grit your teeth and get through this season — but allow it to become the space that shapes you, realigns you, and sets you up to flourish on the other side. Oh yeah, I'm into collecting arrowheads, a gym rat, and writing content, lots of it. What about you??

Greetings! My name is Verneice, and I am evolving to aka Doc Chappy. What brought me into this group is the recent email I received from you, Evan, regarding "Calling". My desire to become the person I was predestined to be has a greater hunger than ever before, as I gain more knowledge and understanding of what I need to do for others to carry my cross for Christ. My desire for truth and not tradition has me excited to have found a community for learning pastoral care and hopefully support for my journey. My current church engagement is in a small nondenominational church in Arizona. Jehovah has placed me in a position of directing the Prayer Ministry, and I also serve on the teaching team for my senior pastor, in congregational care, and as the church website administrator. I have a very strong teaching gift, and I am now trying to learn about the prophetic gift I have been given, rather than running away from it 🙄. At times, I wonder if I have a portion of Jeremiah's mantle because I am given bad news 🤔 a lot. I used to think the visions and dreams I was given were just for myself and my family, but recently the Holy Spirit has enlarged this tent to include my church and my church family. I am a trichotomist, and I also know that I am to write and facilitate a small group program pertaining to sanctification, and with it comes a vision of much more than I can handle on my own and alone. Things I like to do: contemplative spiritual practices, writing guided meditations with scripture, teaching practical application of scripture, doing Tai Chi to the Lord's Prayer, watching the sunset, rockhounding, lapidary, making stone bead jewelry and gifts, taking photos of creation, dancing, listening to instrumental Jazz, horseback riding, and everything about the ocean.
