How do you stay healthy as an entrepreneur?
Being fit and healthy feels so critical to me as an entrepreneur. When I’m confident, I show up differently, and better. When I have energy, I feel like I can handle my 3-page long to-do list more efficiently (though I still get overwhelmed sometimes!). Being able to think clearly affects every aspect of my business. Taking time for health and fitness daily is crucial not only to my well-being, but to my business as well. The main things I do to stay healthy- -Take time for relaxation/visualization daily…this helps me with stress management, puts the focus on the life I’m working to create, and sometimes sparks creative ideas -I limit and mostly eliminate processed sugar and carbohydrates. These foods make me tired and also spark cravings and addictive behaviors which derail me. I don’t like that, so I stay away from those foods. -Eating lots of vegetables, occasional fruits, and nature-made proteins and fats helps me get the nutrients I need and keeps my body nourished, keeping sickness at bay. -Intermittent fasting supports me in being metabolically flexible. It’s really good for the brain to run on ketones occasionally. When my body knows how to use either carbohydrates or fat for energy, it can release excess weight efficiently. What are your top go-to habits to stay healthy and fit? Are there any areas you struggle with?

@Nicholas Golden wow you have such an incredible story, you’ve overcome so much! Totally agree, that just because you can hustle and stay up for four days in a row, doesn’t mean you should! Would love to connect with you more and maybe have you come share your story in Thrive!
What are your biggest health and wellness goals?
In honor of the October BlitZ, and getting our health groove on, I’m curious… what are your biggest health and wellness goals? If you had a magic wand and could change any aspect of your health and wellness, what would it be?

@Benjamin Ross I’m working on healing my gut and yes I do have nice abs and a flat stomach some of the time. Just not when I eat grains or fruit. No amount of starving myself changes my gut bacteria, which cause distension. I’m working on healing my gut with probiotics and prebiotics. I let go of over 80 pounds in less than 6 months, after years of nothing working for me, including calorie deficits. I used intermittent fasting and some days of eating lots of calories. The variation was an important part of my body feeling safe enough to be able to let go of the weight. And I’ve learned from some of the topmost experts in the field of metabolic flexibility. There’s a lot more to the story than a simple calorie deficit, especially for women who are strongly affected by insulin resistance, raging cortisol, and unsupported estrogen and progesterone. If a calorie deficit works well for you, great, go with it! For some people it doesn’t work well at all and can actually back fire

@Benjamin Ross yes, and it tends to be a lot more straightforward for men. For women, if we aren’t detoxing estrogen properly, or if we are producing too much cortisol, or dealing with insulin resistance, we can have a calorie deficit for years and our bodies will hang onto fat like there’s no tomorrow. It’s kind of wild!

Happy Martin Luther King Day!!
This man was a beacon of hope for so many people. He exemplified the power believing in a better world, regardless of any evidence that this would be difficult or impossible. He showed how powerful it is to stand up for what you believe in, while standing in kindness and the spirit of nonviolence towards those who don't agree. The video below shows "rarely seen footage of Martin Luther King, Jr., speaking to students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967, where he delivered his speech "What Is Your Life's Blueprint?" " In the spirit of MLK day, what is one thing you can stand up for in your own life, with more conviction, and with kindness and nonviolence towards anyone who might disagree with you or not see things from your perspective? https://youtu.be/ZmtOGXreTOU?si=N9Cv7w6ryrRBp4T3

@Jason Scott Respect to you as well! We all have the seeds of greatness in us. Folks like Martin Luther King show us what's possible when we actively water those seeds, and stand in our personal power
