Happy New Year, what a lovely tradition!!
2026!
How's 2026 going for everyone? I feel like we just survived such trauma in 2025, and we were frozen with trauma. Now it's 2026 and we're thawing out. I'm facing a new path solo, selling my house, going from Mr & Mrs to just Miss, and growing my current company, making films this year, and consistency as a podcaster. Friends are so good to have during this time..thanking GOD for all of them! How's 2026 going for you?

Profession...well some say I've been part of "the oldest profession", actually they don't ;) I never posted here in Professionals and I think I was waiting to find the perfect words but here goes: I am Vanessa The Vivacious, I'm a media professional in Podcast, Video, Film, & other media or Misc. Creative Services. I own my Production company from which I take on clients for contract work and then I host & produce my own podcast, music, writings, and direct & produce films. I'm also a classical musician so I love to play and/or sing music. For about 4 years, I travelled the country as a Visual Journalist and interviewed strangers - capturing stories of happiness and humanity; I have taught 3,000+ content creators on how to interview and do it in the field as visual journalists. I've taught classes on production for video and field production. I've consulted on creative projects to help refine or create new podcasts from scratch. I work non stop and I never really stop to appreciate where I am or what I've done so writing down what I do is very interesting. As my bios usually say, I'm a Filmmaker, Podcaster, Creative, & Good Human. On all platforms I'm @vanessathevivacious, come find me and chat...and follow!
Rescheduling & No are not bad words
As podcasters, our first instinct is to say yes to every request for host/guest that comes along. Sometimes life happens and we need to reschedule for a better day. Originally, I joined Podmatch a few years back under a different podcast and then revamped under the current podcast, Humanity 2.0 Podcast. In doing so, I felt like I needed to accept every guest and when life got hard, I sometimes sacrificed my needs before the next podcast appointment, to ensure I was present at all times. In the last few years, I've learned that the words "rescheduling" and "no" are not bad words. Life happens to all of us and it's ok to connect with your fellow podcaster, and ask for another date so long as the communication is strong; it's ok. When it comes to the word "no", sometimes there are guests that you may not jive or as the kids say "vibe" with - and that's ok. Staying true to your show's mission and not just saying yes to add to your episode count..is so important; downright integral :) Today, I'm very mindful of who I agree to host or where I guest, I refer podcasters to others that may be a better match if necessary, and I also take time for myself to review the calendar, making sure that I don't overload my plate with recording sessions. I feel it's important for all of us to be mindful, allow ourselves some grace, and also make sure you get your hydration and snacks in. (I can go into podmode, editmode, marketingmode and stay at the desk for hours lol) Feel free to let me know if you disagree. Would love to hear thoughts on what you've observed during your podcast journey such as things you've learned about yourself or observed recently. Cheers fellow pod people!
