One of the questions I'm asked most often is whether I believe everyone has a personal spirit guide. My answer is simple: I don't believe the Bible teaches that each person has a personal spirit guide assigned to them. While the Bible clearly teaches that God guides us, it attributes that guidance to the Holy Spirit, God's Word, His wisdom, and at times His angels carrying out His purposes. Nowhere does Scripture state that every individual is assigned a personal spirit guide who accompanies and directs them throughout life. For example: John 16:13 tells us that the Holy Spirit guides believers into all truth. Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go." Psalm 119:105 reminds us that God's Word is "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Hebrews 1:14 describes angels as "ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation." The verse speaks of angels serving God's purposes but does not teach that each person has a personal guide assigned to them. Because of this, I choose not to identify or name "spirit guides" during my readings. Instead, I rely on prayer, seek God's direction, and, when appropriate, share evidential connections with departed loved ones who come forward with meaningful information. I understand that others hold different beliefs, and I respect that. This is simply how I understand Scripture and why I practice the way I do. Troy
