The free pilot cohort is open - get inside!
I've been thinking about getting this done for a long time, and realised that there needs to be a limit with how long I put it off. You guys are the pilot group, and are going to get the information for free, so it'll be fine if I iron a few things out as we go along. Thank you for your responses to the survey, I've decided that we're going to combine Skool (just here, not a new Community for now, to store resources) and Discord (for private conversations about the cohort content, as well as live events should you want to turn up to them). To get started, I've just set up this link with my new payment provider, Polar - https://buy.polar.sh/polar_cl_Mrfu8X1lnamspzqqqBY1h56cxQEIEvojj7Voo2WC6OD You just enter your email (you get the cohort for free, whereas everyone in the future is going to have to pay), and I'll send you through all the invites and details once everyone's inside. I'm looking forward to seeing you inside and getting started on setting up this project! -- Theo

Wispr Flow for quick notes - my new secret weapon
I've shared a brand-new article about the exciting new piece of software I've been using to enhance my quick capturing in Obsidian, on mobile and on desktop. It's called Wispr Flow, and it's a transcribing tool that gives you remarkably accurate and frictionless text from speaking into your device. In the piece I go over the unexpected use cases that have popped up for me since starting to use it, and then I cover the main use it has - quick and simple idea capture into my inbox. I also touch on the Obsidian plugin QuickAdd, which is how I add new templates and content into my vault without having to re-write templates over and over again (there's a new longer piece about this specific workflow coming soon as well). You can it at the link here - https://medium.com/obsidian-observer/using-obsidian-and-wispr-flow-for-lightning-quick-voice-to-text-notes-fc85bd66d8ac

@Theo Stowell Hi Theo, sorry for the delay. I had to dig to find the link, but here it is....https://linuxhandbook.com/obsidian-docker-self-host/ I'm going to try it this weekend!
Does anyone use Proton services?
In the interest of digital privacy, I've been looking into changing a few things around the way I use the internet - see Andrej Karpathy's Twitter post about privacy (https://x.com/karpathy/status/1902046003567718810/?rw_tt_thread=True). One service I've been trying out is using Proton as a replacement for Google when it comes to email, calendar and drive but I've not fully decided whether I like it or not. I was wondering if anyone in here uses Proton and if you do, how has it gone so far? What did you like/dislike about it? And what caused you to make the switch? I'd love to hear, and also let me know if you have any other privacy-focused services or applications that I can try out, -- Theo

@Yaaqoub Eliyyahu The only issue that I have with Apple Mail is that in addition to using a MacBook Pro (my daily driver) I also spend a lot of time on linux and Windows PCs.

@Theo Stowell You may want to take a look at Zen Browser or Brave. The people that make Arc have announced that they will not be producing any more updates to the software. Zen is based off of Firefox and Brave is based off of Chromium. I am currently using Vivaldi (which is very nice) but am going to be testing Brave because it is said to be very privacy focused.
The new Minimal Note-Taking course is live!
A short update for you all... The course that I've been building out since before this community went live is now available to everyone. It's all about Minimal Note-Taking - a tool- and system-agnostic philosophy for building a sustainable practice around managing knowledge. Inside you get 50 minutes of video content, as well as accompanying written insights around the philosophy. The aim of the course was to be concise, but also to be the number one place to learn about Minimal Note-Taking because right now, everything I've released on the topic is scattered all around the internet and hardly accessible. You deserve one central point that you can learn all the best of it from, so that's what I've created. Find the course by going to the 'Classroom' section in the community, and then clicking the course that has a large 'Minimal Note-Taking' sign on the front. In there, you can work your way through the lessons and tick them off once done. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to create your own post asking it, so that others can learn from the answer I give. You can also just leave a comment under this post with questions, or message me in private. I hope you enjoy the new course, -- Theo P.S. Check back on the course now and again, because it's a live resource that I can update when I come up with new insights about the idea.

Quick capturing notes on Apple devices
I've been a promoter of using native Apple Shortcuts for this for a long time, rather than using different apps and other solutions (there's one called Funnel that seems good, it's just a bit much). Rather than giving out my Apple Shortcut that I use, which wouldn't be very useful, I've got the following attached video which comes with the V3 version of PARAZETTEL for Obsidian, in which I talk about shortcuts and capturing. (It's not the exact method I use right now, but it's similar, and still works fine. I can make something more specific in the future; right now this is the best I've got. I'll work on something to show the new method.) -- Theo P.S. I've updated this post to contain my newer YouTube video about the topic...
