What’s your go to mainline
What’s your go to line/braid, for me it’s OGX in 15lb &18lb for weed. Do you also think line colour makes a difference ?

Exocet 16lb and skyline 8lb - I get the khaki in the Exocet but I think that’s cause it looks more “carpy” lol and my skyline is yellow 😎 I don’t think colours matter too much. My spod and marker are set up with whiplash 8, 28lb, 0.08mm and the leader is whiplash 8 again but 38lb, 0.12mm - it’s just strong and durable, it takes a lot of abuse 💪

@Paula Marriott possibly! I know that I moved to whiplash from looking at reviews after hearing some of the team talk about it. Initially for whatever reason it was only for my shock leader, but now I have it on anything I need braid on. It’s amazing how when you find the right product for you, you rarely deviate from it.

Evening All! Who doesn’t like talking about carp 🤣🎣
Diameter or Breaking Strain?!?
I had a fantastic chat with Terry Edmond’s yesterday morning, he called me up to offer some advice regarding how to add a few yards to my casting. I had posted a video of my morning weight training session, stating I’d like to be able to fish at 140yards with a baited rig and regulation diameter line (not 10lb line with a 50lb leader). He quite rightly replied asking “what is regulation diameter then Paula?”. This got me thinking… Why do MOST (not all!) fishery rules and regulations stipulate that fishing mainline should be a minimum of 15lb when fishing for Carp? Terry and I both agreed that diameter is more important than breaking strain, so why do we mostly speak in terms of breaking strain? As I’m typing this, I feel like I am answering my own question in my head… Diameter is a more important consideration for casting - a thinner line will always cast further than a thicker line right? Breaking strain is a more important consideration for fish safety - a stronger line will better ensure the line doesn’t fail and cause Carp to be trailing yards of line, potentially leading to being tethered and potentially catastrophic consequences for that carp? But does higher diameter = higher strength? Not in all cases I don’t think? Or am I wrong? I am always happy to admit I am wrong in any given situation… What are your thoughts?? 😬😊🎣

@Paula Marriott i don't think it’s always down to the breaking strain of the line - I’ll change lines depending on the conditions of the lake I’m fishing. I’ll use Exocet in 16lb (0.33) for aboard and in lakes that have a rough bottom or weed. But generally I love using the Nash skyline in 8 or 10lb (0.26/0.28), yes I’ll use a shock leader with it but I’ll also change the way I play the fish. The thinner diameter for me is more for ease, and not wasting energy unnecessarily when fishing and baiting at range 😎
