What actually makes a thumb stop
Want to know what actually makes a thumb stop? It's older than Facebook. It's psychology. Four things your eye cannot ignore: contrast and sharp edges, faces (especially ones showing emotion), scale that feels a little off, and a reader instantly thinking 'this is for me'. Before you post your next ad, ask one question: where are the edges, and what does the eye land on first? If you want the full breakdown, the creative-psychology lesson in the Classroom goes deep on exactly this. Drop your ad image in the comments and tell me what you think the eye hits first. Let's see if it matches what you intended.

fb ad audit?
I just read about the summer "friday Lives".. (also- is there a time when the friday-lives happen? (I work in the afternoons:) - Q&A FB Ad Audit Live — Mal personally reviews your ads and your data - FB Ad Business Manager Audit — make sure your setup is doing everything it should - - is there a signup or line for the fb ad audits? or a standard bribe (I'm not above bribery and blackmail)...somehow, I feel like I have done all the things covered in the last 7 weeks.. but my dashboard stats.. seem worse and I don't know why. So- something probably still needs tweaking and I clearly don't have 20-20 marketing vision:)
ad performance? do I kill a baby?
okay- I set up my ad with a new campaign- mostly directly copied, except I added IG and threads to the audiences (trying to stay pretty basic, until I get something working, but suspect also want to see if IG younger audience skews better). so- having made the class-recommended changes, it looks like the results are "worse" and I'm not sure why. Here's the ad and the dashboard image. does anyone see something I'm missing? I did add a second image to this one. I may/should likely dupe the ad, putting a single image in each ad-set under the same campaign... (I feel spanked...) and the new campaign-ad is only 2 days old but so far, it looks like it is performing similarly to the old-campaign-ad...? or do I just sit tight on this for a week and see if it changes/ picks up. From what I recall, Mal noted she can usually tell within a few days what the ad is likely to do/ is doing... or if there are old-headlines that performed better than I should try putting back?

question about ads for wide stores
anyone done much with running ads for wide stores? (does a direct to destination, say, like KOBO) tend to work? I'd imagine it may be more niche.. but-- are the ads cost comparable to what ads for amazon run?

@Brenda Hiatt do you find that most ppl buy direct from the website, or go to a retailer? and do you have any way of tracking those numbers? or do you just follow a base conversion rate re-- income more than ad spend? also- were you already well branded-established (ie have a strong reader following) before you did this or did that make a difference?
error publishing fb-ad.. what's app status???
UPDATE-- after several attempts to publish and get it kicked back.. it does seem to have finally published (despite nothing significant having been corrected) I have no idea why I'm getting this error message. I don't have what's app status checked and have never used it. It doesn't appear to be checked on the dashboard. Is there some other place that is triggering this error? ALSO- why is ad preview showing this (I added IG feed, which I've never tried before:). an ad with no image????
