Ohfa - introducing hw with activation cue
@Alex Lato Not sure if we are doing this right, tho I'm guessing I've introduced the hw before the activation is really solid but I wanted to see if I could do the turn and face from a hw position lol I think his vertical takeoff was a bit extreme 😂

Ohfa bark activation second session
I've introduced a "hah" activation cue and turning myself side on to him. This is with ball on rope so I can do the tease and hide easier 😊 I'm hoping 🤞we are heading in the right direction @Alex Lato

This Group!
Hey guys - I decided delay archiving this group so you can still enjoy posting in discussion etc. and of course I will be able to add some more content over here :) Tomorrow I'm flying to teach PWP on the week long camp so might not be so active here but the strength is in the whole community here! Ps. due to settings change some links eg. to this group may stop working (the one I share on social media) - for you it should all stay the same as it is.

Ohfa - bark activation first session
So, after last night's Live, I started to introduce waiting for a bark.. The first session I actually barked to stimulate a reaction but I didn't video that one 😂 I teased with the ball and then hid it behind my back. The going round was so that he wasn't able to come into hw position. He offered a lot of behaviours before the bark but I just waited it out.. I'm sure it'll get stronger as I'll wait and only throw the ball for the stronger barks.. What was really nice about this session, was that normally he would react to the sheep and rush the fence, shaking his head but he chose to engage with me instead 😊❤️ even when he did give them a little mali "fuck off" I just shouted "play" and he came straight back for more engagement 😁😁

Play in the Show Ring
Sorry for the lack of videos lately - I promise we’ve been practicing daily, just haven’t had a chance to set the camera up. In the meantime, I do have a question: Kairo’s first obedience competition is coming up this weekend, and I’m planning to ask for a training round. This means that we’ll be able to bring a toy into the ring and reward during/between exercises. How would you recommend using play to give Kairo the best experience in the ring? Would you play at the start, before asking for any behaviours? During the exercises themselves, would you break it down and reward more often, e.g. every few steps in heelwork? For context, the exercises are: - Heel on lead - Novice recall - Heel free - Retrieve But I think I’ll ask to only do one set of heelwork and skip the retrieve this time. @Alex Lato

@Samantha Preece plan your training round before you go in. Make sure you know what you are working on and let the judge and steward know, depending on who they are they may be able to help. Follow your plan and don't improvise or you won't get anything from it. If it's too practice the play then do easy exercises and don't introduce any formalities ie set ups. They are the things that kill the drive in a ring 😊 I have done many many training rounds 😉 😂

I used to plan the training around my dog's weakest exercises and just work on one tiny component of it. I got told off once by chief steward even I was judging for marking training rounds and giving prizes to the best ones because the prizes weren't on the schedule 😂 I still did it anyway 🫣 😅
