Christmas With My Dog
My dog doesn’t care if the house is spotless. He doesn’t care if I bought the “right” gifts. He doesn’t judge my Christmas pajamas, my snack choices, or the fact that I’ve watched Die Hard for the 47th time. He just sits beside me tail wagging, heart open reminding me that love doesn’t need to be complicated. Be present. Find joy in the simple stuff. Nap often. Snack responsibly-ish. And love your people (and pets) like it’s the best day ever because to your dog, it is. So here’s to the dogs who stay by our side through every season the silent therapists, the belly-rub addicts, the loyal shadows who make Christmas warmer just by being here. We may be slightly fur-covered… but we are happy… grounded… and absolutely UNBREAKABLE. #Unbreakable #DogDad #DogMom #BestChristmasBuddy

Hence why have always had dogs! Currently staying at a friends place in Darwin and got chatted about leaving the outside toilet (dunny) door open. Real good start to Christmas Day LOL 😜 Photo below is just a representation for humour. The ironic part was he was gifted “Let Them” by Mel Robbins!
What motivated me to start HomeSafe Safety & Security Publishing and HomeSafe Academy?
This morning I have been going through my skool notifications and messages and it occurred to me that I haven’t really posted anything about what motivated me to start a skool community and why I have joined this community. So here it is … My motivation didn’t come from a single spark — it came from a few long-running forces converging: 1. Years working the frontline of security and safety I have spent a lot of time as a Security Officer & Safety Representative in NT/WA environments. I have witnessed and experienced firsthand how ordinary people including myself have been caught off-guard by preventable risks — violence, theft, scams, unsafe homes, poor situational awareness. That built a conviction: that everyday families need practical tools, not theory. 2. A belief that preparation turns fear into confidence My philosophy — observation, detection, reporting and deterrence = preparedness, layered protection — has shaped my mission. I want to help ordinary households apply the same simple principles used in professional security: perimeter→exterior→interior→core, colour-coded responses, ThinkSafe-ActSafe-HomeSafe. In other words, don’t panic — prepare. 3. A gap in the Australian family-safety space The public messaging I have encountered was scattered: a bit of police advice here, a pamphlet there, some online-safety tips thrown in. You didn’t see a unified system that: - spoke to regular homes - covered home safety, home security, and online safety together - gave step-by-step room-by-room action plans That gap has pushed me into creating a full publishing line. 4. A personal drive to leave a legacy This is emotional, not commercial. I want my work to: - prevent loss of life - stop innocent people becoming victims - help families protect children, elders, and finances - be something that I can look back on with pride That sense of legacy sits underneath everything — particularly now that I’m in my 60s. 5. A desire to teach and train, not just observe

Christmas
Being single at Christmas hits different. The world turns the volume up on couples, families, matching pajamas, and “perfect” moments. And if you’re alone, it can feel like you’re somehow behind… or missing something. But here’s the truth we don’t talk about enough: Being single doesn’t mean you’re broken. It doesn’t mean you failed. It doesn’t mean you’re unlovable. Sometimes it means you survived something. Sometimes it means you chose peace over chaos. Sometimes it means you’re learning who you are without noise, without compromise, without pretending. Loneliness isn’t weakness. It’s a season that teaches you how strong your own company can be. Christmas isn’t just about who’s beside you. It’s about what’s inside you. If you’re single this season, be gentle with yourself. Celebrate the quiet wins. Honor how far you’ve come. And remember being alone is not the same as being empty. You’re still whole. You’re still worthy. And your story is still unfolding. Unbreakable.

Thank you 🙏 this post lets me know I’m not alone. Working in Security I know only to well that the season to be festive can be very draining if your single. You have given some great advice in this post. I struggle myself at this time of the year, I tend to try and focus on work and treating days just like any other.
Dogs and People
Ever walk past a dog and instantly think, “That one looks dangerous”? Maybe it’s big. Maybe it’s scarred. Maybe it’s barking because life taught it that’s how you protect yourself. But then you get close… and realize it just wants someone to sit, stay, and trust. A gentle soul wrapped in a body the world misjudged. People are the same. We judge the size, the tattoos, the attitude, the silence, the history without ever giving them a chance to show who they truly are. Some aren’t angry… they’re scared. Some aren’t cold… they’re protecting their heart. Some aren’t dangerous… they’ve just been hurt before. Imagine what could happen if we led with curiosity instead of fear. So before you cross the street, look away, or write someone off pause. They might just be the loyal, loving soul you’ve been searching for. What’s a time you misjudged someone and were glad you were wrong? Share it. Someone needs that reminder today.

Never judge a book by it's cover! I have to constantly remind myself to keep an open mind and that we all have our own journeys and like fingerprints no two are ever the same.
Helping others / helping you
Last night reminded me why giving back matters: not just for others, but for our own hearts. Photographing the Ronald McDonald House fundraiser put me right in the middle of a room full of people choosing compassion. And there’s something about witnessing that kind of kindness that shifts your whole mood. You can’t help but feel lifted. I saw the hugs, the tears, the strength of families fighting for their kids… and it reminded me that when we help others, even in small ways, we heal a little too. To everyone who showed up or gave what they could thank you. You didn’t just support families… you added a bit of light back into your own life. Helping others is one of the fastest ways to feel whole again. ❤️ Jump in on the thought I’d love to hear from you.

I sometimes volunteer my time on a Sunday at the local Community Kitchen, it provides an opportunity to give back and by giving I also receive in works in mysterious ways!
