Best ROI
What are your best and worst ROI services? - Lawn Care (mowing, trimming, edging, mulching, overseeding, aeration, etc) - Hardscape (patios, paths, walls, etc) - Design (residential or commercial designs) We are Arborists who recently launched a landscape devision. So all my knowledge is Tree Care and business related. Love to hear feedback from in the trenches Thanks!

Introducing Myself
Hey guys, my name is Trevor and I’m a native to Colorado Springs, Colorado. I just turned 19 a month ago and this is my third summer in business. I started my “company” the summer I turned 17 because I just got my license and just wanted enough money to cover gas & car insurance. I went door to door and got 4 mowing clients that summer and I would do property clean ups in the fall. I started advertising as Keep It Clean Lawn & Landscape. Then the summer I tuned 18 I had saved enough money to buy a truck from one of my first clients. Once I got the truck everything snowballed and buy the end of the summer I had the truck, a trailer, two employees, “a lot” of equipment, and 60-70 weekly mowing accounts. I continued to do some property clean ups but it was my senior year so I put the business on hold until this April. I had come across Chase Gallagher, Jacob Farling, and learned the hardscape/project jobs was the route I wanted to go. This April I hired my current foreman and a helper and we mow 17 houses on monday and do small project work (mulch, clean up, rock) the rest of the week. I had a family friend who reached out because their contractor started on a design/build but left after first progress check and they asked if we can take it over. We did and it is an 80k project we are hoping to finish next Tuesday. I just rebranded my company to Empyre Outdoor Living and our current revenue is 160k since April of this year!

We have historically had a local 3rd party company handle this. Local is nice because I prefer in-person meetings, but obviously you wouldn't have to structure that way. Probably one of the biggest problems I've seen in small business is just using whoever walks in your door - or that guy your cousin said he used once who did an ok job.. (this applies to using any 3rd party vendor, or in some cases even hiring employees 🫣)

For those of you who value learning over action: You will likely watch a video like this, get super pumped and excited, then do nothing... As soon as you hear something that is applicable to your business, pause the video and go take action! Tons of value here, but it's worthless if you store it in your brain and never USE IT! Pick ONE thing. Focus on doing that one thing until you see results. Then come back and watch some more.

@Elliott Smith because you said overthinking things is a weakness. Total respect, I definitely struggle with that myself. Gotta pick a direction and move toward it with single focus. In my company we call it "shiney object syndrome" when someone can't stay on task and move a project along.

Take #2 - I was writing a long-winded reply that got accidentally cleared *sad face* - so no we switch to bullet points - Awesome question - I'm new to landscaping, but have over 15 years in tree care (so software may not be 1:1 with typical industry standard) - SingleOps or ArborGold are both great options we've used for full-service CRM - They both include LOTS of stuff - like mobile estimates, overhead mapping, measuring tool, CAD map for design, professional proposal docs, customer portal, crew routing, timesheets, invoicing, and more.. - Podium is our VoIP service - they funnel all leads into a single place and keep record of call, texts, messages, etc all in a single thread for each individual client so that you have a full communication history in one spot. - Google Suite for all team-based internal communication and projects. Google Chat for example is broken into channels for admin support, crews, and company wide discussion. - Skool - we actually have training built right into Skool that our crews and frontline can access for their learning & development
