Swing through it.
Swing through it. Make quick adjustments. Be okay with negative feedback. Finding your swing is on the other side of one more rep and trying to feel something a little different. Hitting is simple, it’s just not that easy!

Try finishing with one hand on the bat like Judge, Machado, Arod etc. Whoever you've been hitting with has really messed you up and has you thinking about the wrong things. If you had a boxing heavy bag to hit with your bat, do you think that swing would do any damage to the bag... NO WAY. You need to turn your brain off and just think about swinging as hard and as fast as you can when hitting that heavy bag. You need to turn your brain off and let you body move fast and how it wants to, but it just looks like your thinking way to much and not letting your body do what it wants to do in space. For example, if you took a sledge hammer and tried to hit a big, fat tire on the ground, you wouldn't be thinking about the "wrong" or "right" way to slam the tire with your sledge hammer. You would just try to do it as hard and has fast as you can without thinking how to do it. Everything you've been taught up to this point you think is right, but the results prove everything you've been taught is completely wrong... I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. Im just trying to be really with you and help you find your swing. We can talk more and continue this conversation if you'd like.

Homerless to gone.
What works for him might not work for you. Find what works for you. If someone told me swing “up” at 15 and not 25 years old, then I might be in the big leagues right now. Swinging “down” was not my feel because I failed miserably trying to stay on top. My average was down and obviously my slugging. I surrounded myself with successful hitters who liked the down “feel” and got great feedback from it, but that’s all we knew. I was never told to consider the opposite until I spent some time around Judges “hitting coach” before the 2017 season. Though he is not my favorite coach today, he opened my eyes to what else the swing could be to achieve the same results we all dream. For the record, I don’t like “Teacherman” because he thinks what he teaches is the only way to hit, over complicates how he communicates the swing and makes hitting seem harder than it already is for his own ego and to make us feel less than. In short, if swinging down doesn’t get you the results like me, then try swinging a little more up and just think about being on time. The moment I told myself that in 2017 when my playing career was on the line, I ended up hitting 8 home runs in the next 7 games. That’s more home runs in 7 games then I hit in my entire life up to that point. Point is, don’t over complicate things and fall for that trap with these really smart hitting coaches that promote themselves as gurus. Your results should or shouldn’t improve after each adjustment you make. If they don’t, then keep testing. Godspeed.

Inconsistent feedback.
Sometimes your feedback is inconsistent not because your swing needs an adjustment, but because your approach or effort level just needs to change. Swinging harder or easier, trying to hit the ball oppo or pulling more could just be the answer to solve your current problems. Sometimes aiming higher or lower or feeling like your going to swing more up or more down is what you need. Keep testing. Keep tweaking. Your answer is on the other side of one or two more adjustment.

The biggest controversy in hitting.
Swing up or swing down. There is no wrong or right, but there is one that works better for you. Keep swinging. The goal stays the same.

There is NOT one way to hit. Know your options. Run your tests. Do what works. Let the ball be your feedback. 25 yrs played. 12 yrs coaching.
