Preparation for Date Night
Since I turned 29 a week or two ago, my wife has seen fit that I should take us on a date. With my new Hickey Freeman blue blazer just back from the tailor this week, I built a "night out" outfit around it for its maiden voyage. We plan to go to the new Puerto Vallarta for Mexican cuisine, so I chose a shirt that expresses a southwestern motif, and paired it with the bolo tie that I actually made myself. The pocket square is a lighter blue that picks up the faint blue in the shirt, and adds its own accents in tones of gold, green, and pink. Medium tan jeans and Justin python boots make up the base of the outfit; and the top and outer layer are finished off with a 100X pure beaver felt vintage Resistol hat, and a 100% wool double-breasted overcoat. (Overcoat is maybe just a tad formal for this occasion, but the temps are still frigid. The tail of my blazer sticks out underneath my peacoat, and with my camel colored single breasted coat, there's just too many different browns and tans at work.) I also want to add how happy I am with the new blazer and its fit. Because @Brian McGuire taught us about the proper length of jackets and button placement, I recognized this blazer as one that would fit properly. Notice how the length is sufficient to cover the entire crotch and buttocks, and the top button hits at the navel, or true waist. The sleeves could probably be a quarter of an inch shorter, but they still get a passing grade as they do not extend past my wrist bone. When worn with French cuffs or a dress shirt of fitted length, more shirt cuff would be visible, unlike a casual shirt of this variety.

Liking that double breat overcoat!
The thrift pays off again!
I know they are not Aldens, but always a good day when you come across dradstock never worn Dexter's in your size for 6 bucks a pair. Saddle shoes have an awesome two tone as usual but in a great caramel and chocolate brown combo and natural crepe rubber soles. They were one size smaller in width for what I usually wear, but threw them in the shoe stretchers for a couple of days with some Angelis Shoe stretcher spray and fit perfect, maiden voyage to my daughters gymnastics competition today with a pair of tan cords and Aran navy Shawl collar and wool newsboy. In addition who is gonna pass on another oxblood handsewn loafers either. These are different from my Bass ones because it's a matte finish which is nice.

Is this watch too big?
Ordered this basic dress watch from Jomashop because I liked the way it looked (and it was cheap). I think it looks a little big. My wrist size is about 6.25" and the watch is 42mm diameter with lug-to-lug distance of about 49mm.

Looks a little big to me. Guess it could depend on what you are wearing also.
Oh brother🙄
This is the worst advice I’ve seen so far. Trying to legitimize this crazy organ grinder monkey look. There are so many things wrong with this advice. Firstly if you are shorter you want a higher rise pant on a suit to elongate your body. Secondly if the button is lower on the coat it makes you look taller as well (draws eyes upward) Ralph Lauren was a master of this with his 5’5” frame. A coat should cover both your butt and your crotch and ideally there should be no shirt showing below the buttoned coat button. This has been the style of suits for well over a hundred years. It accentuates a man’s physique. This recent fashion nonsense is annoying. Buy quality. Buy timeless style, be prudent and be sharp. The other Pinterest article describes it well. Don’t be caught up in this fellas. Please https://pin.it/6C5avgszw
