Ubuntu changed my life
I was struggling for three months using Catalina, Claude Code V1.0.0, no Desktop integration and no VS CODE integration and very disconnected platforms. I tried installing Docker to run Ubuntu and even Docker was not working correctly on Catalina. Solution: I removed Catalina and installed Ubuntu for the first time. After using Windows and iOS for decades I can't believe I have never used Linux before, its incredible. In under half a day I had all of the latest builds of Claude Code, Openclaw, VS CODE and various agents up and running. What took me days to do now takes hours. I wasted days copy and pasting git diffs for review!

@David Vogel Cheers, i can see distro paralysis setting in right now, like a kid at a chocolate factory. I assume that all distros are really just pretty packaging and customised interfaces. I presume someone will develop an ai app to customise the distros for every user soon. Thanks for the advice, as a Noob developer I'll pick my battles and stick with Ubuntu for now so I don't open a can of worms. The important thing is I jumped the fence to Linux, I can't believe anyone buys Windows or iOS any more. 2nd hand M2s with Linux would have to be the best value for money around i reckon?? Im off grid so power consumption working 16 hour days is pretty top of mind.

@J M I'm running the old Intel Mac hardware 2012, the latest Ubuntu runs great, sounds like Mac is now designing hardware that doesn't run Linux as easily, the usual built in obsolescence in another form.
Additional info on "Intro to Claude" - Installing on CachyOS
Hey y'all, this is for those among you who look into setting up Claude on a Linux system. More specific it's about CachyOS the Linux distribution that many people currently propose for people who want to switch over from Windows. Now if you haven't embarked on that journey: Don't rush it, while it's a good thing to consider and while CachyOS seems a great choice for most current Windows users who would like to get away from the Microsoft ecosystem, it's not always possible to do so. Thus: If you want to embark on this journey, I would propose you to check out channels where people help you with that (which is not the focus of "Clief Notes"). Before I get into details. A major difference between installations of software in Linux environments and an Windows is this: Each Linux distribution I ever tried out had something like a software store Though it is not a store as in paying money for getting something valuable... it's more like a part of the operating system from which you install software even if it's not part of Linux itself. The reason why you should use the store is that it automatizes the update of each software you download here. That is not the case if you download the software from some webpage. The store also contains some level of security, that is: It is much less probable that you download some malware from here than if you download "the same" software from a webpage. - On the installation of Claude Desktop: It seems that there is no Claude Desktop for Linux systems. - On the installation of node.js: While you can install Claude without node.js I'll explain it here as Jack did so in his course. (And I think we should all be on the same track to avoid mistakes that are hard to solve just because we forgot something when we started onto the trail.) Use the "application" from the "Start menu" named "CachyOS Hello" (the one that pops up when you log-on to your system > Click the button "Apps Installation > Enter "npm" into the search field for the application you want to install. Alas, looking for node.js will not get you anywhere. (You might need to check out the register "repo" first.) > Check "npm" and "npm-check-updates" > Click the button "Install" > Next you'll get the usual drill with affirming system changes, entering your admin credentials and so on, but that's all you need to do.

vibe-code-rules.md
So I haven't had the chance to dig into the classroom yet so I'm not sure if this is covered anywhere.. but this is my set of general vibe coding rules that I have been working on to use across all projects. This way I have a single "source of truth" for best practices to include on all builds and try to keep things clean. So far it has been working pretty well (from an amateurs perspective haha) and looking forward to stress testing it more. Please take it and use it for yourself if you don't have anything similar yet. Also, I would really appreciate any feedback from the more experienced devs/engineers in the group. 🙏 Edit for clarity: this doc is something I have been applying to all vibe coding projects. Not all projects in general. Another edit for clarity: I am just getting through Jake‘s ICM paper now along with the classroom material. I was not aware that he also refers to the claude.md as a global file to be handed off to the highest level orchestrating agent. This global.md would be better named something more specific and placed around layer 3 of the workflow (someone please correct me if I’m wrong). Anyways, hope this clears up any confusion there may be. Decided to change the name to vibe-code-rules.md for clarity =)

Awesome, needed this, I had created an enormous folder system that was way to heavy. I have now created a conductor role using your code rules and some other md folder advice and got the conductor to rebuild the entire folder structure and specific Roles and the relevant files. I doubled the efficiency and effectiveness and halved the files needed. I woke up this morning and realised that I can create multiple projects that are way more specific and targeted, rather than running one single project in Claude that had became full of over 100 sessions and had lost all focus. It was like herding cats in the end. Thanks to everyone who has contributed their experience and advice, this Skool community is priceless. 🙏💪

I started in reverse, I'm not a programmer, used Claude first to fully develop the concept and strategy then fell on my arse trying to build it all with too much context and too little focus. I found that I had to be extremely disciplined in my prompts as I would drift and take Claude with me and end up doing burnouts in the front yard so to speak. Now finding a better balance and starting to make progress, drove out the driveway and heading out of town (metaphor) ;-)

@Les Perras I agree. Speaking of context, I can't find the reference to what you are imagining, can you point me to it or summarise it here?

@Les Perras Ive learnt to always ask Claude if it has read every line in the prescribed md files, usually it has read header and only skimmed, I then instruct to read every line in the prompt before I continue. This seems to help.
